Background

Yae Sakura was formerly associated with the Stigmata Space modeled after Yae Village. In Ling Mo’s previous life, she was its owner, and the two spent time training in swordsmanship beneath the village’s central cherry blossom tree. After Ling Mo awakened his own Stigmata, the space no longer belonged to Sakura, though its original form still reflected her connection to it 9 11.

Her soul was sealed within the Divine Key Ksitigarbha Soul, alongside Kallen and Fei Yu Maru 25. Ling Mo obtained the weapon at auction and later spent two years nourishing it with Honkai Energy, allowing Sakura to awaken 20 30.

Unlike Fei Yu Maru, Sakura cannot maintain a physical body while remaining inside the Ksitigarbha Soul after awakening. Ling Mo therefore keeps her at his side, a circumstance that affects his decision to continue in the Demon Hunter Squad selection despite initially considering forfeiture 31.

Yae Sakura is a fox-eared woman usually associated with shrine maiden clothing. In combat, her fox ears are visible; outside of battle, her newly formed body can retract them 31 32.

Personality

Sakura is affectionate, teasing, and openly attached to Ling Mo. She playfully provokes him over their sleeping arrangements, but also values the ordinary moments in which they can simply remain together 31 38.

Ling Mo’s past disappearance left her with lasting anxiety. When he is injured or unconscious, she becomes especially protective and clingy; her fear is rooted in having previously been unable to do anything but wait for his return from battle 38 40.

She is also practical and considerate of others’ needs. At Demon Extermination City, she helps alter uniforms and plans the group’s sleeping arrangements so that everyone retains enough beds and privacy 37.

Swordsmanship

Sakura taught Ling Mo several sword techniques in the Sacred Scar Space, including Flash and Blade Reversal 8 36.

Awakening from the Ksitigarbha Soul

After sensing the Ksitigarbha Soul’s recovery, Ling Mo channels Honkai Energy through his Stigmata and summons Sakura’s soul into a new body. The following day, he introduces her to Long Haochen, Li Xin, and Lin Jialu as his girlfriend 30.

Demon Hunter Squad Selection

Sakura accompanies Ling Mo to the Holy City. Because she is not affiliated with a temple, she cannot enter the Holy Temple Training Ground, and Ling Mo worries that joining a squad may separate them. Sakura refuses to let him forfeit and convinces him to continue competing 31.

Demon Extermination City

Sakura travels with Long Haochen’s newly formed squad, spends time with Fei Yu Maru, helps tailor the women’s uniforms, and works with Ling Mo to create a private sleeping space in the barracks 37.

Concern over the Herrscher of the End

Following Ling Mo’s coma in Heart City, Sakura questions Snow Empress in private about Finality’s motives. She fears Ling Mo may once again be drawn into danger beyond her ability to stop, but ultimately resolves to remain at his side 40.
