Cultivation System

A Soul Master's cultivated Soul Power bears the imprint of their Martial Soul. As Soul Power grows, it strengthens the Martial Soul in return; this mutual growth is the standard path of cultivation. Soul Masters who force their Soul Power ahead without corresponding Martial Soul development risk an unstable foundation. 140

Martial Souls allow their wielders to activate Soul Rings and release Soul Skills without personally excavating every trait contained in their Soul Power. This convenience also makes Self-Created Soul Skills difficult, since the Martial Soul can become a barrier to directly experiencing those traits. 214

• Every ten Soul Power levels represents a developmental stage for the Martial Soul and normally permits the absorption of another Soul Ring. 11

Soul Rings

Soul Rings are central to a Soul Master's growth. They grant Soul Skills, contribute traits from external Soul Beasts, and stimulate the continued development of the Martial Soul. 11 41

• Soul Masters possess nine extraordinarily valuable Soul Ring positions. 41
• A normal first-ring age limit is approximately 420 years; exceeding a ring's optimal limit provides additional stimulation to the Martial Soul but greatly increases absorption risk. 11

Soul Skills

Soul Skills are abilities derived from Soul Rings and form a major part of a Soul Master's combat system. They may provide direct offense, defense, restoration, control, elemental effects, or amplification. 12 37 566

• Soul Skills can be developed through repeated use, enriching the “soul” portion of their corresponding Soul Rings and increasing their flexibility. 155

Soul Cores

A Soul Core is a high-density, rotating concentration of Soul Power that prevents excessively compressed Soul Power from solidifying inside the body. 20

• Early Soul Core condensation is dangerous for ordinary Soul Masters because it requires sustained compression of their own Soul Power; without unusual talent or support, the process may take decades. 185

Martial Soul Variants

Body Martial Souls

Body Martial Souls originate from a Soul Master's own body and can provide unusually strong feedback to the Main Body. Their early development may be fragile, but their potential rises sharply as their feedback mechanisms are explored. 6 22 77

• Unlike ordinary Martial Souls, a Body Martial Soul can be tempered extensively with Soul Power and then synchronize part of that improvement back to the user's body. 6
• Their close compatibility with the Main Body permits unusual techniques, including transferring physical pain and fatigue from the body to the Martial Soul. 7
• Body Martial Souls can reach the Soul Power solidification threshold much earlier than ordinary Martial Souls, potentially around Level 60. 20

Soul Power Martial Souls

A Soul Power Martial Soul is an exceptionally rare Body Martial Soul classification recognized by the Body Sect. It treats Soul Power itself as part of the Soul Master's body. 20

• Its feedback mechanism can greatly improve Soul Power quality as the wielder cultivates. 34
• Excessively rapid improvement may cause Soul Power to approach solidification at unusually low levels, forcing early Soul Core research. 20 30

Soul Spirits

Soul Spirits are spiritual entities that can replace or supplement conventional Soul Rings. Their use expands the options available to Soul Masters but places significant demands on Spiritual Power. 46 47

• A Soul Spirit's age and number are limited by the Soul Master's Spiritual Power realm. 47 118

Soul Tools

History

In the primitive Douluo Era One, Soul Master cultivation relied heavily on innate Martial Soul aptitude and individual exploration. Later generations increasingly investigated the body's potential, higher-age Soul Rings, and the specialized development of Body Martial Souls. 15

The Body Sect became prominent through its research into Body Martial Souls and combat techniques. Its methods emphasized using the Martial Soul to temper the body in reverse and developing inherited battle-technique templates into personal Self-Created Soul Skills. 6 79

The emergence of the Soul Spirit system opened systematic development of Spiritual Power, while forging, Spiritual Metal, and Battle Armor created new ways for Soul Masters to improve their Martial Souls beyond conventional cultivation. 15 31

Su Ming later publicized the Soul Core Method to provide a clearer route for Soul Power evolution, then developed Metal Power as an additional cultivation system compatible with Soul Masters, Soul Spirits, and other lifeforms possessing suitable metal foundations. 250 480

Evil Soul Masters

Evil Soul Masters are Soul Masters who accelerate cultivation by obscuring or loosening the connection between their souls and Martial Souls. This gives their Martial Souls greatly expanded authority to distribute Soul Power imprints, producing rapid growth and often abnormal combat strength. 134 140

• Their methods can produce power far beyond their nominal rank, and they may burn Soul Rings or even Martial Souls to survive combat. 181
