Background / History

Following the previous Shushan Sect Leader's death, Lingxu succeeds him as sect leader. Li Xuanxiao reports Senior Disciple Xue Yun's departure to him, establishing Lingxu as the authority responsible for the sect's affairs 3.

Early in his tenure, Lingxu is melancholic and has an unstable Dao Heart, a condition that worries Li Xuanxiao 4. He later entrusts Shushan to his senior brother while leaving for the Thousand Lake Desert, providing three brocade pouches as guidance for managing future problems 96.

Lingxu eventually reflects on why his own master selected him as sect leader and recommits himself to Shushan's future 146. By the later conflict with the demon domain and outside forces, he serves as Shushan's foremost defender, confronting Demon Kings, Tribulation Crossing Great Powers, and the Ascension Great Emperor directly 300 322.

Personality

Lingxu combines an eccentric, playful temperament with a strong sense of responsibility. Bored by the quiet routine of sect leadership, he once disguises himself to visit a small town and casually claims to be Shushan's sect leader—only to be disbelieved 121.

His behavior can be unpredictable: he writes eloquent letters at times and crude poems at others, and claims that a divine ability lets him process sect documents while asleep 133. Despite this, he is trusted with Shushan's leadership and remains attentive to his disciples' safety and progress 146 235.

In battle, Lingxu is confident, decisive, and at times merciless toward hostile forces. He easily defeats Blood Disciple Hand and destroys the Mysterious Yin Cult's Flying Ship, yet he also expresses concern for the Old Emperor even while defeating him 159 237.
