Background

Yu Xiaogang is the son of Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan Sect Master Yu Yuanzhen. His inability to surpass level 29 leaves him alienated from his clan and unable to gain acceptance at higher-level Soul Master academies. He develops a reputation as the Grandmaster and promotes the maxim that there are “no useless Martial Souls, only useless Soul Masters.” 17 73 98

He becomes Tang San’s teacher after recognizing the significance of Tang San’s innate full soul power and Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul. His stated aim is to cultivate Tang San into a powerful Soul Master, but his private ambition is to use Tang San’s achievements to validate his theories and erase his own reputation as a failure. 17 98 137

Yu Xiaogang arrives at Notting City intending to recruit Tang San. His attempt to intervene in Tang San’s arrest leads to his own imprisonment, where he establishes himself as Tang San’s teacher. 17

He later attempts to recruit Xiao Wu, but she rejects him and criticizes his treatment of Tang San’s Martial Soul. His attempt to investigate Li Xiaohua’s Blue Silver Grass also ends in public humiliation when Su Yuntao slaps him. 26 27

Shrek Academy

At Shrek Academy, Yu Xiaogang guides Tang San and the Shrek Seven Devils while pursuing talented students from other academies. His poaching causes Qin Ming and the remaining Heaven Dou Royal Academy students to leave Soto City. 74

Liu Erlong confronts him after discovering allegations that he peeped on a teacher at Notting Academy and manipulated Tang San’s development. Their former bond collapses when she finds him with He Cuihua. 116 117

Pursuit of the Ten Thousand Year Fourth Ring Method

Yu Xiaogang repeatedly seeks the method behind Dugu Yan’s Ten Thousand Year Fourth Ring. He intrudes into the Royal Fight Team’s training room and argues that the secret should be public, only to be expelled by Yun Xiaofeng. 183

He returns to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan with information about the method, but is beaten by outer disciples after throwing his identity token into a lake. He proposes that the clan acquire the method, though Yu Luomian dismisses his proposal. 253

Spirit City Imprisonment

Yu Xiaogang obtains a Spirit Hall Elder Order from Yu Yuanzhen and travels to Spirit City, hoping to find Bibi Dong, learn the Twin Martial Soul cultivation method, and rekindle their relationship. 255

Instead, he finds Qian Daoliu as the new Pope. After insulting Qian Daoliu and demanding Bibi Dong’s location, he is imprisoned for two months and subjected to punishment arranged by Spirit Hall. 280 282 292

After his release, Qian Daoliu has a Soul Douluo escort him safely back toward the Heaven Dou Empire because the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan has issued an order to kill him. 301
