Background / History

Kunlun Mountain

The Queen Mother established Kunlun Mountain as an overwhelmingly powerful cultivation force. Primitive tribes were ordered to provide thousands of children as Medicine Boys and Girls, a role Zhang Chen quickly learned was dangerous rather than honorable 811.

Her hierarchy is built around Golden Armored Warriors and Generals. Exceptional servants receive the rare Class A designation directly from her; before Zhang Chen became Jia Eighteen, only seventeen people had received it. Class A generals are trusted with critical sites such as the Pan Peach Garden and Pill Room, receive exemption from further assessments, and are promised eternal life 816.

Kunlun's splendor reflects her power: thousands of True Dragons are chained to palace pillars, while Ninth through Twelfth Order primal spirits serve as motionless ornaments. Even high-level cultivators are insignificant within her palace 816.

Zhang Chen, the “Variable”

After Zhang Chen completed the Fire Refinement Golden Body, she personally named him Jia Eighteen and ordered that he be trained further 816. She later identified his Nascent Soul and immunity to Heavenly Punishment as anomalous, calling him a “variable” 822 835.

She assigned Zhang Chen to construct a vast altar within a thousand years, rewarding him with two three-thousand-year Pan Peaches and personally teaching him formations and Innate Runes for a year 822. The altar ultimately served to suppress her own overwhelming power, which the world could not bear without the Five Direction Flags and sixty-four Innate Grand Formations 833 834.

Attempt to Escape the World

The Queen Mother uprooted the altar from Kunlun Mountain and used it to travel through a Space Channel, carrying Zhang Chen and a thousand Golden Armored Warriors with her 848. She used Zhang Chen's Substitute Death Technique and Heavenly Punishment immunity to make him bear Purple Firmament Divine Lightning meant for her 850 851.

She crossed the River of Time by resisting its lifespan-draining power with Chaos Qi, then attempted to force her way through the River of Destiny. The river manifested karma chains representing the Primordial Spirits, Innate Spirit Medicines, and Innate Beings she had killed or refined 848 851.

Though she severed the River of Destiny and destroyed a sliver of the Creation Spirit, the effort left her severely injured. Her attempt to escape through the World Barrier ultimately failed when the Great Sovereign Demon King entered the new world and collapsed the passage behind him 853 854.

The Great Tomb and Downfall

Back at Kunlun, the Queen Mother sought recovery by restoring the Pan Peach Tree and exploiting Kunlun's Dragon Veins. She ordered the construction of a Feng Shui Array and underground sleeping chambers, intending to enter the Great Tomb with the beings of Kunlun Mountain and wait until the world reopened 855 866.

When Zhang Chen and Empress Biyun attempted to flee, she trapped them with the Innate Grand Formation of the Five Elements. She spared Biyun but destroyed Zhang Chen's body and Nascent Soul, considering him an expendable threat after he had served as her shield against Heavenly Punishment 866.

Her burial plan transformed her body into a sentient zombie nourished by Kunlun's Dragon Vein. When Zhang Chen later opened her coffin, he used Corpse Control Technique, the God Smashing Whip, Time Acceleration, and Soul Hooking Plunder to mark both her physical body and True Spirit 872 874 875.

Appearance

The Queen Mother is veiled in divine light when receiving visitors, her gaze alone capable of freezing Zhang Chen's perception of time and space 822. When she reveals her true appearance at the River of Destiny, she is described as possessing peerless beauty and an aura akin to the Great Dao itself 852.

  • Jade-like bones and ice-like skin.
  • Cloud-like hair adorned with stars and moon.
  • Rainbow-colored robes trailing like mist and clouds.
  • Multicolored divine radiance flowing around her body in battle 852.
  • Her post-burial body is a Dragon Vein-nourished zombie body with its own consciousness 873 876.

Personality

The Queen Mother is proud, commanding, and accustomed to treating nearly everyone beneath her as disposable. She limits the growth of her Golden Armored Generals, turns lesser warriors into laborers, captures Innate Spirits for alchemy, and is willing to sacrifice followers to secure her own survival 817 821 865 866.

She is also observant and intensely curious about anomalies. Rather than immediately destroying Zhang Chen after discovering his Nascent Soul and immunity to Heavenly Punishment, she elevates, teaches, studies, and ultimately exploits him 822 835 850.

Her confidence becomes desperation after her defeat at the World Barrier. Even while injured and unable to leave the Feng Shui Array safely, she remains defiant, calculating, and quick to identify the flaws in Zhang Chen's control methods 855 876.

Abilities & Skills

Hunyuan Great Luo Cultivation

The Queen Mother is a Primordial Chaos Great Luo Golden Immortal whose strength exceeds the limits of the world she inhabits.

  • Her aura suppresses Zhang Chen's magic power and divine abilities, leaving him feeling like an ant before the Great Dao 816.
  • She fought three powerful Innate Beings simultaneously without being overwhelmed 832.
  • She tore apart the Eye of Heavenly Punishment and dispersed its Purple Firmament Divine Lightning 850.
  • She severed karma chains from the River of Destiny and destroyed a sliver of the Creation Spirit 852 853.
  • Her power must be continually self-sealed; otherwise, her origin leaks away because the world cannot contain her 833 834.

Five Direction Flags and Five Elements Formations

The Queen Mother was the original owner of the Innate Five Direction Flags.

  • She used the flags to seal her acupoints and suppress her own vital energy 833.
  • The flags alone could not fully contain her power, requiring sixty-four Innate Grand Formations as additional seals 834.
  • She employed the Innate Grand Formation of the Five Elements to trap Zhang Chen and Empress Biyun when they attempted to escape Kunlun 866.
  • Zhang Chen later seized authority over the flags through his Five Elements Authority, leaving her unable to reclaim them by force 971.

Feng Shui and Dragon Vein Manipulation

Her long-term plans rely on immense Feng Shui structures and the extraction of Earthly power.

  • She commissioned a thousand-mile altar built around Kunlun's ancestral terrain and Dragon Veins 825 826.
  • Her Great Tomb's Feng Shui Array continuously extracts residual essence from the skeletons of buried Innate Beings 869.
  • Her zombie body was nourished by the Kunlun Dragon Vein and can draw upon Earthly power, sunlight, and starlight while standing on the ground 876.
  • She previously devoured the first Ancestral Dragon Vein born in the world 963.

Alchemy and Longevity

Kunlun's alchemy system serves the Queen Mother's pursuit of survival and recovery.

  • Pan Peaches under her control can extend life, and she rewarded Zhang Chen with two three-thousand-year Pan Peaches 815 822.
  • Her pill-refining complex contains eighty-eight alchemy halls, processing halls, medicine-planting halls, and medicine-testing halls 835.
  • She captured Innate Spirit Medicines and refined them into elixirs, creating karma that later bound her at the River of Destiny 821 851.
  • Of the Four Primordial Spirits, she preserved only the Primordial Fire Spirit for pill refining and metal refinement; the other three were destroyed 835.

Chaos Traversal

She can force open paths through realms and endure hazards that would destroy ordinary cultivators.

  • She used Chaos Qi to resist the lifespan-eroding River of Time 848.
  • She crossed the River of Destiny while carrying the altar and Five Direction Flags 852.
  • She traversed Lesser Chaos, dissolving spatial rifts and primordial storms with her aura 853.
  • Her injuries worsened when her leaking origin outpaced the Chaos Qi she could absorb 853 855.

Trivia

  • Zhang Chen's Class A designation, Jia Eighteen, made him only the eighteenth person directly granted such status by the Queen Mother 816.
  • She was powerful enough that even the Five Direction Flags and the Great Dao of Five Elements could not fully seal her without the support of sixty-four additional Innate Grand Formations 834.
  • Her Great Tomb was old enough to have existed for tens of thousands of years before the Emperor's Daughter attained the Dao 811.
