Background / History

Chu Sheng originated from a Minor Realm and first became renowned as a rising True Lord with an exceptionally good reputation. He stopped a battle between two ancient True Lords after its collateral damage destroyed thirteen Small Realm Heavens and killed countless cultivators and mortals. He then returned to his homeland, intending to develop it with his cultivation. 1109 1539

He promoted closer unity among cultivators, an ideal admired by Si Sui. Chu Sheng subsequently founded the First Saint Sect and Empty Attained four Daos—[Alchemy], [Artifact Refinement], [Dual Cultivation], and [Monster Rearing]—which became foundational side paths of cultivation. He distributed these inheritances among selected disciples, including Danding, Butian Que, Huanyao, and the future World Honored One. 1109 1329 1535

Before his true intentions became known, Chu Sheng was regarded throughout the Light Sea as an impeccably proper and benevolent figure. Heaven’s Gatekeeper, however, later described him as a junior who “played both sides” and betrayed Si Sui’s side during the conflict between old and new laws. 1109 1310

Chu Sheng established [Other Shore] and sealed the Ancestral Dragon there from the outset, intending to make use of the innate Dao God. His long-term objective was Spirit Transformation Ascension: using [Other Shore], the Ancestral Dragon, the River of Time, and the consciousness of living beings to surpass the Dao Lords. 1226 1329 1376

Appearance

Chu Sheng commonly appears as a young Daoist with an ordinary human-sized body, yet his presence makes him seem detached from the world, as though he stands above all living beings. In battle, he may reveal the countenance of a heavenly being or an immense true form that eclipses other Dao Lords. 1192 1366 1369

  • A young man with a flawless or “perfect” face. 1369 1528
  • Usually dressed in flowing Daoist robes. 1369
  • Possesses the Heavenly Person’s Form and the Primordial Honored Name. 1369 1439
  • His gaze can manifest Primordial Spirit thoughts as radiance that exposes what is hidden in Void Darkness. 1346
  • Can project himself across past, present, and future simultaneously through the River of Time. 1424

Personality

Chu Sheng is patient, controlled, and relentlessly calculating. He habitually treats people with courtesy, conceals hostility behind sincerity, and uses a reputation for benevolence to obtain information or manipulate others. Even while impersonating “Jun,” he carefully chose explanations that would leave Lu Yang little room to question him. 1310 1439 1488

His cultivation method brought his emotional detachment to an extreme. Through [Seven Emotions Reaching Heaven Art], he comprehends the seven emotions before abandoning them, reaching a state of Supreme Forgetfulness in which all things are treated as straw dogs. This does not erase his ambition; instead, it intensifies his desire for greater power, freedom, and transcendence. 1346 1411 1526

Chu Sheng is neither blindly arrogant nor careless. He recognizes when an information gap has placed him at a disadvantage, retreats when necessary, and repeatedly revises his plans rather than gamble on unwinnable confrontations. 1458 1500

Abilities & Skills

Time Manipulation and [Fixed Number]

Chu Sheng’s principal authority is over [Time]. He uses it to manipulate the River of Time, separate opponents across temporal boundaries, and preserve himself through countless temporal phantoms. 1371 1422

  • Can flee into every period of time through which the Light Sea has flowed. 1422
  • Can isolate Dao Lords in different temporal directions, cutting off retreat routes. 1371
  • Uses [Fixed Number] to project and impose predetermined futures. 1374
  • Stabilized False History by halting its return when his plans were threatened. 1347
  • His River of Time can be shattered, costing him heavily and leaving him severely injured. 1376

[Seven Emotions Reaching Heaven Art]

Chu Sheng created a Primordial Spirit method based on the seven emotions rather than the division of Good and Evil. Its final state is Supreme Forgetfulness. 1303 1346 1411

  • Allows a cultivator to refine a Primordial Spirit without uniting Good and Evil consciousnesses. 1346
  • Enlightens joy, anger, sorrow, delight, worry, grief, fear, and shock before ultimately forgetting emotion. 1346 1411
  • Grants extraordinary Primordial Spirit attainments; Sword Lord considered him beyond even Si Sui in this area. 1346
  • His cultivation is difficult to reproduce, involving more divisions of consciousness than methods that separate only Good and Evil. 1303

Image Weaving and Side-Path Creation

Chu Sheng Empty Attained four Images from the Light Sea, creating entire cultivation paths where none had previously existed. 1109 1329

  • [Alchemy]
  • [Artifact Refinement]
  • [Dual Cultivation]
  • [Monster Rearing]

Dharma Eye and Deduction

Chu Sheng possesses formidable perception, calculation, and analytical ability. He can inspect hidden arrangements, trace changes through the Ancestral Dragon’s Sea of Consciousness, and derive plans from incomplete evidence. 1343 1420 1457

  • Exposed the [Heavenly Dao] concealed within [Five Elements]. 1343
  • Detected Lu Yang’s familiarity with his weaknesses and deduced that the Mysterious Virtue Dao Ancestor was likely a Restarter. 1458
  • Can be deceived by specialized concealment, including the [Great Dao of Yin]. 1244
  • Failed to understand the altered Images within the Ancestral Dragon’s Sea of Consciousness after the [Fate-Snatching Art] was destroyed. 1457

Control of the Ancestral Dragon

Chu Sheng sealed and exploited the Ancestral Dragon as a key component of his ascension schemes. 1226 1400

  • Enslaved portions of the Ancestral Dragon’s consciousness and used future shadows as servants. 1406
  • Used [Time] and a repaired [Other Shore] fragment to awaken an Ancestral Dragon consciousness. 1400
  • Planned to use the Ancestral Dragon’s Primordial Spirit for Spirit Transformation Ascension. 1458
  • Lost this route when the enslaved Primordial Spirit vanished. 1458

Transcendent Fusion

At the height of his power, Chu Sheng joined with Taiyuan Immortal in the past and the Final Tribulation Dao God in the future, forming a unified Chu Sheng Taiyi Heaven. 1528

  • Each temporal aspect possessed Ninth-Layer [Other Shore] power. 1528
  • The fusion made his power effectively comparable to Spirit Transformation from the perspective of ordinary Enlightened Ones. 1528
  • After transcendence, he could no longer be affected by Restart, but also lost his connection to [Variable]. 1528 1531

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • [Divine Fortune Book of Fate] — Supreme treasure used to inspect undetermined matters, observe developing scenes, and fulfill wishes. Chu Sheng sought it obsessively and later carried it within Purple Firmament Palace. 1406 1420 1521
  • [Other Shore] fragments — Fragments used to support his status, manipulate the Ancestral Dragon, and advance his ascension plans. 1376 1400
  • Seed of the Great Dao — Obtained by Chu Sheng; it revealed the requirements of Spirit Transformation, but he initially refused to refine it because becoming the world’s foundation would impose responsibility upon him. 1526
  • [Heavenly Calendar Number] — A power Chu Sheng attempted to seize from Lu Yang as part of his transcendence scheme. 1376

Relationships

  • Si Sui — Former ally and admirer of Chu Sheng’s ideal of uniting cultivators; later his foremost enemy, who regarded Chu Sheng as “born evil by nature.” 1109 1542
  • Lu Yang / Mysterious Virtue Dao Ancestor — Primary adversary in Chu Sheng’s later schemes. Chu Sheng repeatedly tried to identify, manipulate, or kill him, but was outmaneuvered by Lu Yang’s knowledge gained through Restart. 1369 1458
  • Dao Tianqi — Disciple and later enemy. Dao Tianqi used his knowledge of Chu Sheng’s limits against him during their battle above the River of Time. 1371
  • World Honored One / Wanbao — One of Chu Sheng’s four disciples. He eventually opposed his master, joined attacks that severely injured him, and was later defeated during Chu Sheng’s transcendence. 1371 1528 1535
  • Danding — One of Chu Sheng’s four disciples and the First Generation Elixir Peak Master. 1535
  • Butian Que — One of Chu Sheng’s four disciples; Chu Sheng considered him an exception among the geniuses he had selected. 1109 1535
  • Ancestral Dragon — Sealed captive and unwilling resource for [Other Shore] and Spirit Transformation Ascension. 1226 1406
  • Sword Lord — Longstanding rival who opposed Chu Sheng’s [Other Shore] plans and repeatedly joined attempts to weaken or kill him. 1205 1472
  • Taiyuan Immortal — Closely connected to Chu Sheng; their past, present, and future aspects ultimately merged during Chu Sheng’s transcendence. 1520 1528
  • Final Tribulation Dao God — Chu Sheng manipulated the Final Calamity and later merged with its future aspect as part of his transcendent state. 1521 1528
  • Name and Form Patriarchs — Allies who bound themselves to Chu Sheng by borrowing his name and form in exchange for supporting him in the struggle for the Seed of the Great Dao. 1505

Story Role / Major Arcs

Rise of the First Saint

Chu Sheng gained public acclaim by stopping the destructive conflict between two True Lords, then founded the First Saint Sect. His creation of alchemy, artifact refinement, dual cultivation, and monster rearing reshaped the development of cultivation in the Light Sea. 1109 1539

Construction of [Other Shore]

Seeking a vista beyond Dao Lords, Chu Sheng built [Other Shore], sealed the Ancestral Dragon, and developed a long-term Spirit Transformation Ascension plan. His control over the Light Sea and its future eventually made him its dominant ruler for 129,600 years. 1226 1366

War Against the Dao Lords

When [Other Shore] began collapsing, the other Dao Lords turned against Chu Sheng. He endured their combined assaults, but the Spell Dao Lord’s extinction profundity and the World Honored One’s attack left him severely wounded. 1369 1371

Decline, Retreat, and Counterplots

After losing the Ancestral Dragon’s Primordial Spirit and discovering Lu Yang’s advantage as a Restarter, Chu Sheng abandoned his immediate ascension plan and retreated to [Other Shore]. He continued searching for the [Divine Fortune Book of Fate], investigating [Grandmaster], and setting traps for Lu Yang and the other Dao Lords. 1457 1458 1471

Battle for Transcendence

Chu Sheng obtained the Seed of the Great Dao but refused to become Spirit Transformation at once, as the position required him to sustain the world and oppose the Final Calamity. Instead, he pursued a route that would let him transcend without accepting that responsibility. 1525 1526

He ultimately merged with Taiyuan Immortal and the Final Tribulation Dao God across past, present, and future, defeated the World Honored One, absorbed the Netherworld, and achieved transcendence. 1528

Road to Ruin

Transcendence made Chu Sheng immune to Restart, but it also severed his link to [Variable]. Lu Yang exploited this weakness, and the altered future reduced Chu Sheng to a tool permanently fixed upon the Transcendence Gate. 1530 1531 1532
