Background
Tang San regards Yu Xiaogang as a second father. When Bibi Dong offers to bring Yu Xiaogang to Spirit City to evolve Luo Sanpao, Tang San readily agrees, prioritizing his teacher's lifelong ambition and the cultivation resources available there. He also believes Tang Hao will approve of the move. 112
In Spirit City, Tang San and Yu Xiaogang reside in Pope's Palace and receive extensive resources from Bibi Dong. Tang San's allocation comes at the expense of Hu Liena's group, creating resentment among Bibi Dong's original disciples. 137
Yu Xiaogang later publicly reveals Tang San's lineage to Dragon Duke Meng Shu: Tang San is Tang Hao's son, possesses Innate Full Soul Power, and has Twin Martial Souls. Learning that Tang Hao is the Clear Sky Douluo gives Tang San confidence that he finally has support against Gu Han. 227 229
During the Star Dou Great Forest confrontation, Gu Han breaks Tang San's right leg while Tang San attempts to escape with Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track. Gu Han subsequently forces the contents of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record from Tang San through an illusion. 230 233
Tang Hao takes Tang San to awaken his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline and heal his leg. Ah Yin rejects Tang San as an “Outer-World Demonic Spirit,” takes back his bloodline origin, and causes his Blue Silver Grass to regress drastically instead. His leg remains crippled, leaving him physically weakened and limping. 242 243
After Tang Hao's death and the fall of the Clear Sky Sect, Tang Yuehua encourages Tang San to cultivate for revenge. He leaves with her to seek Slaughter City, hoping to gain strength and eventually obtain Divine Slaughter's Domain. 322 331 336
Appearance
Tang San is initially described as a black-haired youth in blue formal robes, with wheat-colored skin and an unremarkable appearance. Following the failed Blue Silver Emperor awakening, he becomes pale and emaciated, with protruding cheekbones, a sharp, pinched face, and a persistent limp. 141 243
- Wears blue formal robes while living in Spirit City. 141
- Has black hair and wheat-colored skin before his bloodline regression. 141
- Suffers a crippled right leg after Gu Han's attack. 230
- His post-regression appearance is described as frail and markedly less healthy. 242 243
Personality
Tang San presents himself as respectful, filial, and devoted to his teacher. He calls Yu Xiaogang his “other father,” agrees to accompany him to Spirit City for Yu Xiaogang's sake, and continues to avoid blaming Tang Hao even after the failed bloodline awakening harms him. 112 243
His devotion to the Tang Sect is equally intense. He treats its hidden weapons and the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record as supreme treasures, reacts with rage when Gu Han dismisses hidden weapons as a petty path, and resolves to rebuild the Tang Sect's standing through weapons such as Buddha's Fury Tang Lotus. 233 263 283
Behind his outward restraint, Tang San harbors deep resentment toward Gu Han and increasingly toward Yu Xiaogang, whom he privately blames for provoking Gu Han and costing him both his leg and the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. 234 He is also capable of calculated pragmatism: after Tang Hao suggests using Meng Yiran and the Peerless Dragon Snake as support, Tang San accepts the idea while intending to eventually prevent the Record from spreading further. 234
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer, a combination Yu Xiaogang identifies as the reason his Innate Full Soul Power is possible. 227
- Blue Silver Grass — originally his publicly known martial soul; used for control and entanglement. 227 234
- Clear Sky Hammer — his second martial soul and proof of his Clear Sky Sect lineage. 227 331
- Limitation: Ah Yin removes his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline origin, regressing his Blue Silver Grass from thick, thorn-covered vines to thin grass with soft fuzz-like thorns. 242
- Combat consequence: Huo Wushuang burns all of Tang San's released Blue Silver Grass to ash with a single fire-element soul skill. 289
Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record
Tang San possesses the Tang Sect's secret record, which contains advanced cultivation methods, self-created soul skills, pharmacology, toxicology, and hidden-weapon knowledge. Gu Han extracts its complete contents directly from Tang San's mind through an illusion. 233
- Contains the Mysterious Heaven Skill, an advanced Soul Power meditation method. 233 234
- Includes self-created soul skills and specialized knowledge of poisons, medicines, and hidden weapons. 233
- Tang San attempts to consider falsifying or trapping the Record's contents, but Gu Han's illusion exposes his thoughts and retrieves the complete version. 233
- Gu Han gives a copy to Meng Shu, making Tang San fear the secret arts will spread outside the Tang Sect. 233 234
Hidden Weapons
Tang San is a skilled hidden-weapon maker and insists that Tang Sect mechanisms can allow ordinary people to injure, or potentially kill, Soul Masters. 263
- Hidden Needles in the Sand — a concealed weapon Tang San presents to Ning Fengzhi; he states it is not Tang Sect's strongest creation. 263
- Buddha's Fury Tang Lotus — Tang San's pinnacle mechanical hidden weapon, assembled after nearly a year of material gathering and construction. 283
- Performance: Its metal petals and silver needles damage Black Iron, but penetrate less deeply than Gu Han's fragmentation grenade fragments. 285
- Limitation: Buddha's Fury Tang Lotus loses the wager against Gu Han's fragmentation grenade in a direct destructive-power test. 284 285
Movement Technique
Tang San uses Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track in an attempt to flee Gu Han after Yu Xiaogang is injured. 230
- The technique is insufficient against Gu Han's superior speed and strength. 230
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Twenty-Four Bridges Moonlight Night — storage soul tool worn at his waist; used to retrieve Buddha's Fury Tang Lotus. 285
- Buddha's Fury Tang Lotus — Tang Sect's supreme mechanical hidden weapon, created by Tang San. 283 285
- Hidden Needles in the Sand — concealed projectile weapon presented to Ning Fengzhi. 263
- Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record — Tang Sect secret record; its contents are forcibly obtained by Gu Han. 233
Relationships
- Yu Xiaogang — teacher whom Tang San considers his second father; their bond becomes strained after Tang San's injury and loss of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. 112 234
- Tang Hao — father and the Clear Sky Douluo; Tang San learns his identity from Yu Xiaogang, later witnesses his death at Gu Han's hands, and vows revenge. 229 322
- Ah Yin — biological mother and Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor; she rejects Tang San and strips away his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline origin. 238 242
- Tang Yuehua — aunt who supports Tang San after Tang Hao's death and travels with him toward Slaughter City. 322 331
- Gu Han — principal enemy; injures Tang San, takes the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, defeats his hidden weapon, and becomes the target of Tang San's revenge. 230 233 285 322
- Meng Yiran — initially admires Tang San after losing to him in hidden weapons; later becomes his girlfriend, but eventually accuses him of abandoning her and joins Spirit Hall to seek revenge. 229 330 363
- Bibi Dong — brings Tang San to Spirit City and provides cultivation resources because of her relationship with Yu Xiaogang. 112 137
- Tang Chen — great-grandfather and former Clear Sky Douluo; offers Tang San's side renewed hope for resisting Spirit Hall and the Heaven Dou Empire. 337
