Background / History

Xina was on a flight to Singapore when visions of her mother and past bullies intensified her resentment toward humanity. A divine entity offered her the power to destroy humanity; after accepting, she awakened with freezing abilities and anomalous lines on her body 1.

Born during the Fourth Honkai Eruption in Singapore, Xina became the Fourth Herrscher while carrying the Serenity Gem. Rather than openly devastate humanity and risk the Second Herrscher’s fate, she chose to conceal herself, manufacture distractions through Honkai Beasts, and find a safe place to develop a long-term plan 9 42.

After posing as a survivor, she was brought aboard the Hyperion and assessed by St. Freya. Theresa’s examination found S-Rank-level Honkai energy adaptability, leading Xina to enroll as a Valkyrie candidate while keeping her Herrscher identity secret 12 13. Her interest in the Third Herrscher, Mei, was a major reason for remaining at the academy 13.

Her cover eventually collapsed after Himeko recognized the Amethyst Earring Xina had once given her. When confronted over whether she was the Herrscher of Ice or Death, Xina answered: “Every one!” 178. She subsequently seized further powers and openly established herself as the Herrscher of Frost Annihilation 179 180.

As Empress, Xina built an underground Antarctic research base, developed a Honkai ecosystem and controllable Death Soldiers, and organized increasingly autonomous Honkai Beast forces 186 193. She later completed the Origin trial, activated twelve Authorities, and was recognized by the Cocoon of Finality as the leader of Honkai civilization 490 493 501.

Appearance

Xina initially appears as a pale, underweight girl; Fu Hua notes that her weight is far below normal for someone her age 19. Her appearance changes significantly as her powers expand.

• In her Herrscher of Frost Annihilation form, she possesses golden snake-like eyes, fiery red lips, a mature figure, and a crimson-purple armor ensemble with a crystalline fish-scale skirt 180.

Xina is calculating, observant, and highly pragmatic. She routinely treats battles as problems of positioning, attrition, and information control, preferring to deploy Honkai Beasts, decoys, surveillance, or environmental advantages before entering combat herself 47 69 82.

She is also notably lazy and self-serving, frequently rationalizing inaction as strategic preparation. Her early decision to hide within St. Freya rather than immediately begin destroying civilization reflects both self-preservation and a preference for avoiding unnecessary work 9.

Despite her cruelty toward enemies and captives, Xina is intellectually curious and takes genuine interest in research, Herrscher authorities, human technology, and the development of Honkai Beasts 74 185 186. She can be playful, provocative, and flirtatious, especially when teasing other Herrschers 279 359.
