Nature

Herrschers are beings granted Authorities by “God” or Honkai. Their intended role is the destruction of human civilization, though an individual Herrscher can recognize that purpose and still choose how—or whether—to follow it. Xina openly acknowledges being used by “God,” while Herrschers such as Walter, Bronya, Mei, and the Herrscher of Sentience are cited as examples who oppose Honkai instead 42 277.

A Herrscher’s Authority is normally tied to a Core or Gem. These powers may be inherited, removed, artificially induced, shared, suppressed, or stolen, making Herrscher identity less stable than a simple title or birth order would imply 27 257 342.

History

The Singapore Honkai eruption marked the emergence of a new Herrscher whose energy reading rapidly climbed from 2,700 HW to more than 5,000 HW. Unlike previous large-scale eruptions, this Herrscher did not immediately spread Honkai energy to infect civilians, instead using Honkai Beasts and a manufactured decoy to conceal her escape 8 9.

Xina initially understood herself as the Fourth Herrscher and an Apostle of “God.” After interrogating and killing the impostor Welt, she learned that multiple Herrschers existed and concluded that openly attacking humanity would make her vulnerable to the same fate as the Second Herrscher 8 9. She subsequently infiltrated St. Freya Academy under the identity of a Singapore survivor while continuing to investigate Herrscher history and Schicksal’s concealed records 12 27.

Herrscher classification became increasingly unclear during the New Zealand conflict. Schicksal detected both an Ice-aligned body and a Death-aligned body whose Honkai signatures partially matched the Singapore eruption’s perpetrator. Otto consequently revised the mission database: Wind became the Fourth Herrscher, Ice the Fifth, and Death the Sixth 108. The apparent contradiction resulted from Xina’s dual Authorities and use of separate bodies or parasitic proxies 109 178.

By the time the Herrscher of Corruption appeared, twelve Herrschers other than Finality had descended. Xina had transformed from an isolated dual-core Herrscher into the dominant collector of Herrscher Authorities, directing Thousand-Person Herrschers, Guards, and other Honkai forces as an Empress 252 356 422.
