Dumbledore's Return
After the group returned to Professor McGonagall's office, Sean hesitantly brought up the news of Slytherin again.
Although the news sounds bizarre, all sorts of amazing things happen in the Wizarding World. There are even rumors at Hogwarts that the giant squid in the Black Lake was actually Gryffindor in disguise.
Sean felt that although Slytherin was a notorious Pure-blood cultist, as one of the school's Founders, he shouldn't be capable of killing professors and students.
But there's always a chance of something going wrong. To make the professors more cautious, Sean told them a lie, saying that Salazar Slytherin might still exist.
The professors were shocked and became much more cautious in planning their next steps.
At Sean's suggestion, the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets, which was the girls' restroom on the second floor, was completely sealed off. Every student was sternly warned not to approach, two enormous Magical Gramophone were moved over, and Hagrid also transported some chicken coops to the vicinity.
At Sean's request, Moaning Myrtle was summoned and questioned about the details of her death.
"... I saw a pair of terrifyingly large yellow eyes, and then—I died." The translucent Moaning Myrtle straightened her chest, radiant, as if she had done something extraordinary.
"I'm sorry to make you repeat yourself, I understand... I have one more question." Sean asked quickly, "Did you take your glasses off at the time?"
Moaning Myrtle looked at him strangely. "You look quite handsome, but you're not very bright—it's common sense to take off your glasses when you cry."
Sean smiled dismissively, "I just wanted to confirm. Thank you for letting me know, Moaning Myrtle."
His handsome face worked its magic again— Moaning Myrtle giggled and then winked at him vigorously.
"Moaning Myrtle, thank you. Please feel free to ask us for help if you need anything in the future." Professor McGonagall politely asked Moaning Myrtle to leave.
Sean leaned against the wall, pondering the Basilisk's methods of killing.
Based on records, his own memories, and Moaning Myrtle's experiences, the Basilisk's stare had considerable limitations. Sean believed that a key condition was: eye contact.
The Basilisk can only kill instantly by making direct, uninterrupted eye contact with its victim; however, it's unclear whether wearing glasses would even help...
What if we install a bunch of mirrors in the bathroom? Won't the Basilisk stare itself to death?
The chances are slim, but there's no cost to trying... Oh, and we could also equip the students with mirrors or something...
Sean offered one insurance suggestion after another, and the professors' expressions grew increasingly strange—this kid was far too cautious, more cautious than a wizard.
After he finished giving all his suggestions, Professor McGonagall cleared her throat. "Sean, we will take all your suggestions... that's all, right?"
Sean tilted his head back and went through all the details in his mind, then shook his head regretfully. "That's all... It's a pity, that's all I can do."
Professor Flitwick nearly choked on his hot tea halfway through swallowing it—only? Are all the young wizards these days this terrifying?
He coughed twice, wiped his mouth, and then said, "Sean, you've done enough—don't look at me like that, kid, there's something strange on your face..."
Newt looked at Sean with interest. "Sean, what would you do if you were given full authority over this?"
"Leave it to me?" Sean blinked. "The Basilisk's venom and gaze are deadly. Even a combined attack by highly skilled wizards could result in casualties, given its high Magic Resistance. If it were up to me, I would evacuate the entire school immediately, then have Professor Snape prepare a large amount of vaporized poison and pour it into every pipe in Hogwarts. At the same time, I would have a hundred Auror guard Hogwarts, each accompanied by several majestic roosters."
Sean got more and more excited as he spoke, his eyes even starting to light up. "I'll equip myself with more than fifty phonographs to block every entrance and exit that the Basilisk could get through. Also, have you ever heard of explosives in the Muggle world?"
"If the Duplication Charm could also be used on explosives, that would make things much easier—let the Non-Being, like Peeves or Dementor, rush into the Chamber of Secrets carrying bombs. They won't be killed by the explosion; at most, they'll be petrified."
"As soon as the Basilisk is seen, the explosives are detonated immediately, and the wizards on the ground use spells to maintain the stability of Hogwarts Castle, otherwise the castle may collapse under the power of the explosives."
"If the Basilisk is forced out of the ground, that will be even more convenient. We can bring over a few tanks and saturate the Basilisk's hiding place. What are tanks? They're basically metal shells that can fire Explosion Charm ten times the power in succession. They're good stuff—Professor, don't look at me like that. The Statute of Secrecy is to protect the safety of wizards and Muggle. We're just borrowing it! We're not heartless Dark Wizard."
"Afterwards, we can use a thermal imager to detect the Basilisk's condition. If it's playing dead, we can fire a few more shots!"
After hearing Sean's plan, the professors stared at each other blankly, and suddenly reached a consensus: they must take good care of Sean's physical and mental health from now on.
"Sean, your suggestion, well, is very constructive—alright, you can go back now, we'll discuss it further." Professor McGonagall gave a stiff smile.
"Oh, okay, goodbye then, professors, good night." Sean left the office with regret.
After all, Hogwarts wasn't under his jurisdiction—otherwise, Sean felt his plan was quite feasible!
Moreover, Felix Felicis's good fortune seemed to extend to the entire Hogwarts —that very night, Dumbledore returned.
The wise old man appeared at the banquet, and when he appeared with a smile, the entire Great Hall erupted in cheers.
"Alright, alright, please be quiet, my children," Dumbledore said, extending his hands until the applause and cheers subsided. "Please forgive my negligence. I did not expect such a terrible accident to occur in the castle."
He paused, his expression turning serious. "I assure you all, this matter will be resolved quickly. In just a few days, you will all be able to freely go to the playground, the library, and Hogsmeade."
Sean breathed a sigh of relief at the Ravenclaw table.
These kinds of things are best left to Dumbledore to handle.
On the night of the third day, Professor Flitwick used a spell to send a note to Sean.
"Dumbledore has entered the Chamber of Secrets."
