Meet Me at the Old Place
Newt Scamander's arrival probably surprised many people. The author of textbooks such as "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" and "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is a well-known figure in the Wizarding World.
While some textbooks may use regional versions, Newt's works will certainly be used in all schools' Magical Creatures -related courses.
Sean was momentarily stunned. What was Professor Scamander doing in Newmontgard all of a sudden?
The other person stood at the entrance of the Great Hall, wearing a light blue stand-up collar trench coat over a brown vest. The dark blue bow tie at the collar of his white shirt was slightly crooked, just like his unsteady posture.
Newt's expression was strange, unlike the calm and slightly shy demeanor Sean usually knew. He looked embarrassed, with a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
"Professor Scamander ..." Sean whispered.
To his surprise, Marshall, the leader of the Wizarding United Guard, walked through the crowd to greet him.
"Mr. Scamander, thank you very much for coming."
Newt didn't look very happy. He shook hands with the other person hastily and said, "Hello."
Seeing all this, Sean felt a strange sensation. His first thought was that Newt was a savior sent by Dumbledore, but that didn't make sense, Newt and Grindelwald had always had a bad relationship.
What is he doing here...?
Grindelwald, who hadn't made any unnecessary movements and hadn't even paid attention Fabian Aiken stood up to incite the students, slowly stood up.
"Scamander, it's been a long time."
Newt pushed his way through the crowd to the front, the awkward expression on his face disappearing, and he looked at Grindelwald with a slight frown. "Mr. Grindelwald, you said we would meet again."
"It seems my Prophecy was accurate?"
"That's not my concern."
"Hmm, interesting—I didn't expect you to come."
Newt took a big step forward. "I'm just here to complete a mission."
"A mission? I thought it was some personal relationship between us," Grindelwald said with a smile.
Newt's expression turned cold, and he looked directly at the other person. "You haven't changed at all."
"Thank you for the compliment."
Everyone could feel the tension between the two, and even the noisy students quieted down.
Only Sean's breathing quickened.
Is this some kind of ghost story? No way...
Marshall walked over to Newt, still holding her wand up.
"Grindelwald, are you sure you don't want to come with us?"
Grindelwald slightly raised his eyelids. "You're already treating me like a prisoner? How rude of you."
"Grindelwald ..."
At this moment, Fabian Aiken stood on the table again, his words fierce and his body trembling with anger. "Ms. Marshall, we students of Newmontgard will never allow you to treat our beloved headmaster like this! You must give us an explanation for what happened today!"
"Give you an explanation?" Marshall retorted coldly.
Fabian Aiken's throat bobbed, and he took a deep breath and shouted, "Since you say Mr. Grindelwald has committed illegal acts, then where is the evidence? Without evidence, what right do you have to arrest him!"
Other students chimed in, "Yeah, where's the evidence!"
"Why arrest someone without evidence!"
"What Wizarding United Guard? I really misjudged you!"
Sean lowered his eyes and took another step back.
The two of them were quite the actors, singing in unison... It seems they were determined to ruin Grindelwald's reputation in front of everyone.
And the reason Newt is here is obvious...
But Sean couldn't understand. Professor Scamander was clearly one of Professor Dumbledore's men. Although he didn't know about the past grievances between Scamander and Grindelwald, so many years had passed, and with Dumbledore mediating, how could things have turned out like this...?
And... what exactly is Dumbledore thinking...?
The moment Marshall had been waiting for had arrived. She looked around at all the students and said, "In that case, I will explain to you."
"Mr. Scamander." She turned to Newt.
Newt stepped forward and looked at Grindelwald: "In 1927, you held a meeting at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris France, for the purpose of pre-war mobilization. You were determined to overturn the Statute of Secrecy and rule over ordinary humans. Before that, you had already committed several murders, and official organizations such as the Magical Congress of the United States of America, the French Ministry of Magic, and the British Ministry of Magic sent Auror to arrest you."
He paused, his gaze falling on the stone slab beneath his feet. His voice was devoid of emotion, as if he were telling a story completely unrelated to himself.
"There is evidence that before that speech, you and your followers used spells to control several Muggle and take over their homes. At Père Lachaise Cemetery, you unleashed a fire spell that no one had ever seen before, and..." He paused, "Several Auror died at your hands, and this spell caused the fire in Paris."
Newt's calm words stirred up a storm in everyone's hearts. Students from the Wizarding Family all knew about the famous fire, but the cause of the fire had never been recorded in the History of Magic.
Was that fire started by their principal?
Newt Scamander, a highly respected wizard in the Wizarding World, never cared about power or money; he devoted almost his entire life to Magical Creatures.
This kind of otherworldly great wizard's testimony is very powerful.
Grindelwald didn't speak, but instead looked at Newt with great interest.
Marshall stood before Newt, wand in hand. "Grindelwald, Mr. Scamander is a survivor from back then. He has agreed to extract the Memory Thread as evidence and to use Veritaserum to ensure the reliability of his testimony. If you believe this is a frame-up, are you willing to undergo a Veritaserum investigation?"
Everyone looked at Grindelwald, but he just smiled and didn't say anything.
As before—silence has become synonymous with admission.
Sean frowned; he hadn't expected things to turn out this way tonight.
Newt's arrival became the final weight on the scales. Grindelwald might stop at nothing to achieve his goals, but that speech at Père Lachaise Cemetery represented his lifelong ambition, Sean knew he wouldn't deny it.
Moreover, several Auror did indeed die at Grindelwald's hands, including Newt's first love, Leta Lestrange.
Tonight, it was destined that Grindelwald would go from being the headmaster of Newmontgard to a villain.
Moreover, tonight's events will be exposed to the public.
Sean had no reason to stop Newt from stepping in; he had no good way, and he wasn't qualified enough.
"Something big is going to happen tonight..." Sean muttered to himself, and he even started pulling Hermione and Daisy slowly toward the door.
Grindelwald, who had remained silent, blinked. He did not leave the long teachers' table, nor did he leave the magnificent chair that represented Principal Newmontgard.
"Tsk, tsk," he clicked his tongue and looked at Newt, "What did he say before you came?"
"No comment." Newt met his gaze without flinching.
Grindelwald sat back down and lazily pointed at Marshall, who jumped in surprise as a transparent barrier instantly appeared before his eyes.
"Why are you all making such a fuss when you've already planned everything?" Grindelwald shook his head with amusement. "Before I become the ' First Generation Dark Lord ' you all call me again, let me give one last order as the headmaster of Newmontgard."
He looked gently at all the students present. "Children, you have classes tomorrow, go back to sleep."
The students looked at each other in bewilderment. Had their principal just... admitted to these crimes?
They moved hesitantly, glancing at Grindelwald and then at the Wizarding United Guard.
Marshall's eyes flickered, and she finally stepped to the side, making way for a first-year girl next to her.
"Go back to sleep," Grindelwald urged again.
And so, still reeling from the shock and somewhat bewildered, the students scrambled out of the Great Hall through the path cleared by the Wizarding United Guard.
Vice Principal Vita Rosier, who had been standing beside Grindelwald without saying a word, gave a bright smile after the students had left and then casually stood next to Grindelwald.
Her attitude was crystal clear.
But Grindelwald patted her hand. "Go, put the children to bed. You're Headmaster Newmontgard now."
"Lord Grindelwald!"
"Vita, aren't you listening to me anymore?"
Vita Rosier hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath and quickly caught up with the tail of the student group.
A member of the Guard Corps looked at Marshall: "Madam, should we...?"
"Let her go..."
The other professors of Newmontgard also left on Grindelwald's orders, taking the unconscious guard with them without uttering a word.
Inside the Great Hall of Newmontgard, Grindelwald sat in his headmaster's seat, once again all alone.
As Sean walked out of the Great Hall with the crowd, he glanced back and his eyes met Grindelwald's.
The other person had a familiar smile on their face, and then Sean saw Grindelwald's hand clench slightly. He paused, and a huge suction force came from behind him, as if a hook had been used to pull him back hard, like Portkey.
The Wizarding United Guard was fully prepared when Grindelwald raised his hand, and then they saw a boy in a second-year Hogwarts uniform suddenly appear beside him.
"Sean?!" Those who knew him exclaimed in surprise. James and Sirius took a step forward together, and the panicked voices of girls could be heard from outside the Great Hall.
Marshall's eyes widened in shock. She abruptly raised her wand and pointed it at Grindelwald: "Mr. Grindelwald! I advise you not to do anything outrageous! Your contributions to the Wizarding World over the years are immense, and these can mitigate your Sin! Release the hostage!"
Grindelwald ignored her completely. He patted Sean on the shoulder, who was still in a daze, and smiled, "How are you feeling?"
"What do you mean, 'feel'...?" Sean looked at the other person with a long face. "Teacher, is this really necessary? Did you put Portkey on me?"
Grindelwald smiled smugly, "No, it's just another proper way to use the Apparition, and Newmontgard Castle is still my territory, so doing things here is quite easy."
"So what are you planning to do? Are you going to drag me along to wander the world with you?"
Grindelwald laughed heartily, "Hahaha—I admire your sense of humor. However, Sean, I did consider whether to include you, as it would be bad for you. But in the end, I decided to invite you to be an audience member for this show; it would be nice to show you something."
"Want to see how to burn someone..." Sean said with a wry smile.
"That depends on who's being burned..." Grindelwald licked his lips.
The Wizarding United Guard watched the two people talking ahead and a strange feeling suddenly arose in their hearts.
They were trying to persuade the most vicious Dark Wizard in history to surrender, and then that Dark Lord was having a pleasant chat with the hostages—or rather, the hostages...?
Grindelwald slowly reached out, Sean's body floated to the edge of the teacher's desk, settling steadily into the chair.
He turned to look at the tense crowd below and laughed smugly, "I've invited an audience member to watch the performance—afterwards you can question this little guy thoroughly, tsk, kids these days have so many tricks up their sleeves."
The two male wizards in captain's uniforms next to Marshall exchanged a bewildered glance, sensing that things were not developing as they had expected.
In their minds, Grindelwald might attack them directly, might deny everything, or might do something even more terrible than the fire in Paris.
They prepared various plans for this purpose, but none of them have been used so far.
But things went exactly as they planned. Their true colors were exposed in front of everyone, and regardless of whether they could successfully arrest the other party tonight, Grindelwald's reputation would be ruined.
Although the situation has become strange again.
One of them sidled up to Marshall: "Should we make a move?"
Marshall shook his head slightly. "Don't rush... we can't upset him..."
Grindelwald picked up the wine glass on the table, took a sip of the red wine, and squinted his eyes to savor it.
"This is so boring..." he sighed. "You guys are just like before. Let me think, like that former president of the France of America, what was her name again, Seraphina Picquery? Oh right, she's not dead, is she? She was involved in this plan too?"
Marshall's expression remained unchanged. She said in a deep voice, "Please cooperate with our investigation and do not put up futile resistance!"
"No point?" Grindelwald burst out laughing. "You're funny, little girl."
He looked toward the Great Hall doors, muttered something under his breath, and then looked back at Sean.
"Tsk, kid, let's change the stage."
He reached out and pulled Sean to his side, his body contorting in pain.
The Guard Corps were shocked, wondering why their Anti-Apparition Charm had no effect.
Grindelwald and Sean disappeared from the Great Hall, leaving only their wild and unrestrained voices echoing beneath the empty ceiling.
"My friends, see you at the usual place."
