He's Just a Pitiful Child
"Child! Child!" Professor McGonagall cried out as she rushed over, her black hair, which had been tied up high, now falling loose.
At this point, only two members of the Guard Corps remained to carry out the home invasion arrest. One of them hadn't even reacted yet and was still frantically casting a spell on Sean, who was lying on the ground.
Professor McGonagall suddenly whipped the air with her wand, and a stone shield ten times larger than before rose from the ground to block the spell.
"Fool!" Professor McGonagall, usually stern but rule-abiding, was rude for the first time. Her furious gaze sent chills down the spines of the Guard Corps had cast the spell. "He's my student!"
Professor Rosier's expression was cold. She glanced at the bewildered, blushing wizard and said indifferently, "If we really relied on a bunch of fools like you, Riddle would have already run away."
Professor McGonagall glared at her angrily as well. "Professor Rosier!"
"I only killed Riddle, the boy is fine."
Professor McGonagall didn't have time to argue with him anymore. She anxiously helped Sean up and only breathed a sigh of relief after checking that he was still breathing.
Then they began casting Healing Spell on him as if it were free.
"Professor..." Sean opened his eyes with difficulty.
"Child, are you alright?" Professor McGonagall asked kindly, like a gentle old lady, while her wand tip continued to cast spells.
Stop! Stop! Too many Healing Spell are making me dizzy with magic, I'm about to throw up... Professor Rosier's Avada Healing Curse was already enough...
Sean quickly straightened up, looking at his hands with a puzzled and confused expression.
"It's nothing... What's wrong with me... Why am I so confused..."
As the performance was underway, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside, and dozens of Guard Corps rushed over.
"What's going on!" A leading wizard stared at the scene before him in shock and confusion.
The original Common Room had become a ruin. Their captain lay by the wall, his body mangled. Of the dozen or so skilled men they had brought, only two remained, standing there bewildered.
"Captain!" he cried out in alarm, "Quick, save them!"
The atmosphere in the vice Headmaster's Office in Newmontgard was extremely tense. Sean, sitting in the middle of a chair, had a furrowed brow and a look of surprise and uncertainty on his face.
It took Professor McGonagall quite a while to describe to him in a soft voice what had happened recently, and also to explain the reasons to the Guard Corps.
"Sean," Professor McGonagall said with some sympathy for her ill-fated student, "This is not your fault; you are a victim as well."
Sean clutched his hair in anguish, his voice low and somber. "But... but I've hurt so many people..."
"Sean, Sean, it's alright..." Professor McGonagall hugged him tenderly.
The poor child, even though he was a victim himself, the first thing he did upon regaining consciousness was to blame himself...
On one side of the office near the door, two Guard Corps looked somber. They had suffered heavy losses this time, but the instigator had already turned to ashes, Sean in front of them was nothing more than a pitiful student who had been parasitized.
"Sigh..." The two of them sighed heavily.
Outside, the newly appointed leader was listening to his subordinates describe everything. If Sean saw him, he would recognize him as Mark Pont, the man who had interrogated him at the Ministry of Magic.
"It's parasitized... Is that Ms. Rosier really attacking?" Pont asked, resting his chin on his hand.
"Yes," the team member nodded, "It was all Killing Curse, without any mercy, and the final situation also matched the appearance of a soul being struck by Killing Curse."
"Could it be that Rosier has really severed ties with Grindelwald?" Pont frowned in thought. "Or perhaps, the Death Eaters actually have nothing to do with Grindelwald at all..."
"Captain, what about us?"
Pont glanced at his men and irritably ruffled his hair.
The Guard Corps interrogated the Lestrange Brothers and then came to arrest them with great confidence, only to find that the one they were looking for, Wallerup, was the victim. Their own side suffered heavy losses, and the instigator had already been executed.
But their goal wasn't to annihilate the evil forces; they wanted to extract information about Grindelwald from that boy named Wallerup.
"Damn it, I'm the one who has to clean up this mess again..." Pont muttered angrily.
"Captain, what did you say?"
"Nothing!" he snapped at his subordinate irritably, then pushed open the door and went inside.
Inside the office, he saw Sean, who had been chatting casually with him just a few days ago, now looking pained, with Professor McGonagall comforting him beside him, while Professor Rosier sat expressionlessly behind his desk.
He seems to be a victim... but we can't jump to conclusions...
Pont gritted his teeth, walked up to Sean and Professor McGonagall, and after carefully considering his words, said slowly, "Professor McGonagall, we have follow-up investigations that we would like Mr. Wallop to cooperate with..."
Before he could finish speaking, Professor McGonagall abruptly raised her head, Sean previously kind and amiable expression turning serious and furious. "Mr. Pont, our student has been possessed by Dark Wizard's soul, and he has suffered immense physical and psychological trauma! Hogwarts bears the majority of the responsibility for this; we failed to protect our student, allowing the Dark Wizard to take advantage! However, your official organization also bears responsibility! How could you not have foreseen such an evil organization that had been operating underground for so long and had developed such a vast power?!"
"In fact, you rashly came to arrest him without a proper plan. If that Riddle has gone completely insane, without Professor Rosier's great help, not only will your team members be injured, but our innocent student will also lose his precious life!"
"I will report this matter to Mr. Dumbledore without missing a single detail, and Hogwarts will do everything in its power to protect Mr. Wallop's rights!"
A barrage of words nearly knocked Pont unconscious. The implication was clear: Hogwarts was at fault, the Guard Corps were at fault, and only Sean Wallerup was an innocent victim. If they wanted to arrest him again for questioning, they should ask Dumbledore's opinion first!
He inwardly groaned. In order to keep Dumbledore in the dark, they had indeed acted without proper planning. Now, it wasn't just an innocent child; if it weren't for Professor Rosier and Professor McGonagall's intervention, their advance team would have been wiped out. This was a huge favor to them.
Pont wasn't speaking with much confidence, but remembering the Guard Corps leader's instructions, he still spoke slowly, "I understand what you mean, Professor McGonagall. But Mr. Wallop is involved with an evil Dark Arts organization. For the safety of the entire Wizarding World, what do you think..."
This time, Professor Rosier, who had been sitting quietly in the back, sneered. She elegantly crossed one leg, her tone full of sarcasm. "Why don't you know why? Just for some so-called information, you're putting a second-grade child through such hardship. He has just suffered immense pain and is completely consumed by self-blame. And what about you?"
Her speech grew faster and angrier. "Let me tell you the truth, do you think your Guard Corps didn't turn into corpses on the spot? Even though Mr. Wallop was parasitized, his soul kept fighting. It was because of his resistance and kindness, and because of Professor McGonagall's restrictions, that your team members were able to survive, understand?"
By the door, a gloomy-faced member of the Guard Corps glanced at Pont and said softly, "Captain Metterlink will probably be in the hospital for at least half a year, and may need a wheelchair for the rest of his life... But he's still alive..."
Professor Rosier sneered, "Yes, he's still alive. If it weren't for Mr. Wallop's relentless struggle against immense pain, Metelinke would be beyond saving now."
Professor McGonagall continued, "Sean is just a second-year student. What chance does he have against such a powerful Dark Wizard? I think the Guard Corps should continue their pursuit of the Death Eaters instead of troubling a kind and brave child here."
Upon hearing this, several members of the Guard Corps looked at the child in the chair. They saw that the child had completely lowered his head and covered his face with his hands in pain.
Even they now felt that the new captain was being a bit aggressive; the kid was so pitiful...
Sean covered his face with his hands, worried that he had been trapped in Bengbu...
Professor Rosier hadn't discussed those lines with him beforehand... It made him feel quite embarrassed... He had clearly intended to kill him, but the Obscurus's power was already almost depleted by then...
Pont's expression grew increasingly awkward. He hesitated for a moment before saying, "We're also worried that the Dark Wizard's soul might not have been completely eradicated. We don't want to interrogate Mr. Wallop, but rather to conduct a thorough examination..."
"Mr. Pont!" Professor McGonagall was unusually angry. "As long as I'm here, I will not allow you to take Sean away!"
"Professor McGonagall ..." Sean looked up and gave a bitter smile.
"Poor child..."
Seeing the tense atmosphere in the room, Professor Rosier stepped forward again, arms crossed, her usual coldness. "My spell really struck Riddle's soul. If there were still Soul Fragment entangled in Sean's soul, Sean wouldn't be in this weak but healthy state now. He would be suffering from pain like he's under the Cruciatus Curse."
"It's just an examination, professors, perhaps Potions will suffice..." Pont was almost fawning over him.
Professor McGonagall glared at him and said, "Absolutely not! Mr. Pont, let's be frank, I don't trust your Guard Corps's Potions!"
As they were talking, someone else came over from outside. It was a witch dressed in a healer's uniform, with a Guard Corps badge pinned to her chest. She seemed to have arrived just in time.
"Let me introduce you," Pont said. "This is our Guard Corps's healer. She is not only skilled in healing magic, but also very knowledgeable about Potions. I can guarantee that Mr. Wallop will not take any abnormal Potions under her care!"
The witch adjusted her glasses and said, "I've already heard about it. Actually, to check whether Mr. Wallop is still parasitized by the fragment, all you need to do is take Veritaserum. The Veritaserum works on the brain's memories. If the parasitism is still present, the memories of the two souls exist in one brain, and we can find out by asking."
"I don't trust your Veritaserum," Professor McGonagall retorted without backing down.
Instead, Sean slowly raised his head and said seriously, "Professor, in order to prove my innocence, I am willing to take Veritaserum, but I request that it be done right here, in front of you."
Since the wand wasn't taken away, he could just Transfiguration into Veritaserum... Under Grindelwald's training, he was an expert.
His solemn, aggrieved, and stubborn appearance evoked pity in everyone in the room, and some of the young Guard Corps even lowered their heads in shame.
Pont was overjoyed. Just as he was about to speak, Professor Rosier spoke up first, "Since Sean has said so—in order to ensure his innocence, I suggest that the Potions professor in Newmontgard provide the Veritaserum. This way, Professor McGonagall and I can feel more at ease."
Pont's eyes darted around, and he immediately rejected the suggestion. He looked at the two professors, knowing that the Guard Corps ' Veritaserum was untrustworthy, but he also couldn't allow Grindelwald's former subordinates to provide Potions...
"I've got it..." Pont's eyes lit up. He had investigated Sean's information, including his relationships at Hogwarts.
This kid is a genius, handsome, polite, and a rich second-generation. Almost everyone has a very good impression of him—except for one professor.
And that professor happened to be a Potions maker...
Pont coughed. "Professor Rosier, the situation is sensitive right now. You don't trust us, but the Guard Corps can't trust Grindelwald's former subordinates either—even if you've all passed the investigation."
He glanced at Rosier, whose gaze was growing increasingly cold, and casually remarked, "I hope you understand... How about this, Hogwarts also has Potions professors, Professor McGonagall, you must trust your colleague, right? We can have our England colleague provide a Portkey, and have that professor bring Veritaserum, how about that?"
Before Rosier could speak, Sean nodded instead. "Very well, Professor Snape is selfless, I trust him, and I also believe in my own innocence."
She glanced at Sean and nodded without hesitation. "Okay, Professor McGonagall, what do you think?"
"I also agree with Severus." Professor McGonagall had always believed that Sean was innocent, but since Sean had offered to prove his innocence, then so be it.
"Okay, I'll inform them right away," Pont said quickly, as if afraid the others would change their minds.
In the corridor of Newmontgard Castle, the students who had been evacuated in advance were gathered together discussing something. They had just run into the corridor when a huge roar came from behind them.
Hermione and Daisy were holding hands and anxiously looking at the entrance.
The commotion was too great, and considering that Sean had just been taken away from the scene, the two guessed that it was related to Sean.
As they were talking, something suddenly poked Daisy's arm.
Daisy pulled Hermione to a corner, where her brother's head was peeking out from the air.
"I heard that, they're going to interrogate Sean with Veritaserum!" Harry said seriously.
