Nature and Origin

Contamination Sources are manifestations of evil-god influence. When a passing Evil God is illuminated by starlight, its projection may fall upon a planet and create a source of contamination; the severity varies according to the illuminated portion and distance involved. 2 5

A source releases an evil-god aura and can produce pollutants, including evil spirits, Wicked Anomalies, evil objects, and contaminated creatures. 2 14

• Contaminated Beasts — Wild beasts and Spirit Beasts mutated into irregular, distorted forms; contamination commonly grants them substantially greater strength. 14
• Contaminated humans — Victims may lose their sanity and mutate completely, or undergo progressively altered perception and judgment. 14
• Contamination Zones — Areas affected by a source’s influence. The appearance of evil spirits formed from dead ordinary people generally indicates a low-level zone. 5
• Mobile contamination — Fragments of contaminated flesh can themselves function as mobile ordinary Contamination Sources. 555

Contamination Sources are usually located through their aura, environmental effects, or the creatures they create.
