Position in the Gene Evolution Path

The Gene Evolution path has nine levels per tier. Apart from Mortal Rank, each level has early, middle, and late stages. Transformation Tier begins after an Awakened individual completes full gene immersion. 1 9

Gene Compilation and Advancement

Transformation Tier cultivation centers on compiling and engraving new genetic fragments according to a chosen direction. A cultivator's Bloodline Transformation foundation affects how safely and reliably they can handle this process. 9

• Gene modification is inherently dangerous: newly constructed genes must improve the user while remaining stable. 9
• Rare professions and specialized gene fragments may limit the number of transformations or impose Bloodline Trait requirements. 9
• Repeated errors can destabilize existing genes; radiation is cited as an example of something that can damage genes and cause mutation. 184
• Ordinary cultivators can become stuck even at Transformation Tier Level 1 after reaching the final barrier, or deliberately stop advancing to avoid further genetic complications. 184
• At late Level 9, completing all new gene fragments permits entry into the Evolutionary Tier. 9
• Evolutionary advancement deeply tempers stable genes with Psionic Energy. An unstable foundation—or serious damage sustained during the Transformation Tier—can cause collapse and death; some instead stop advancing to preserve their lives. 9

Professions

Standard Profession Templates

When the Earth Federation first contacted interstellar civilization, it acquired four freely available and highly stable profession templates. The corresponding Transformation Tier potions are limited to these initial types. 9

These professions are common because their structures are recognized as stable and robust, giving users a much higher chance of completing transformation without gene damage. Their accessibility does not make them inferior to rare professions. 9

Traits and Bloodlines

Bloodline quality is particularly important during Transformation Tier gene compilation. Higher bloodline levels create more robust genes, increase error tolerance, and allow the integration of more complex genetic sequences. 184

• A high bloodline level can make gene compilation dramatically easier; Su Shijie's tendrils could even correct misplaced base pairs during his own compilation. 184

Transformation Tier individuals possess basic rights in interstellar space; most civilizations will accept them, and weaker civilizations may grant them superior-class privileges. 325

• Skilled Transformation Tier workers and scholars are valued across factions for pharmaceutical formulation and the manufacture of psionic equipment. Their technical value can exceed their combat tier. 56
• A Transformation Tier can perform psionic labor such as infusing food, stirring semi-finished medicine, and forging psionic metal. 513
• Technical Transformation Tier personnel may be imported as long-term labor because the value they generate can exceed their acquisition cost. 513
• Some skilled Transformation Tier individuals may be more sought after than Evolutionary Tier combatants with no specialized expertise. 325

• Carbon-based lifeforms lose reproductive isolation upon reaching the Transformation Tier, though reproduction becomes more difficult when the species difference is too great. 8
• With life-extending potions, the longest-lived documented Transformation Tier individual survived for nearly one thousand years after humanity's contact with Psionic Energy. 12
