Background / History

Dugu Yan inherits the Dugu Family's poisonous serpent Martial Soul. Its toxins threaten both its owners and their partners: Dugu Bo's wife, son, and daughter-in-law all died from Jade Phosphorous Serpent poison. Dugu Bo is eventually described as Yan's sole remaining relative 34 250.

She first appears after completing her enrollment at Heaven Dou Royal Academy. A fluctuation in her Martial Soul draws her toward Li Chang'an, whose serpent bloodline ranks above her own.
