Background / History

Tang San's origin is later witnessed by Li Chang'an through the Auspicious Ominous Eyes. In his prior life, a blood-armored figure—identified as the Asura God—altered a soul, placed it into an infant, and created Tang San's identity within the Tang Sect. Tang San became an outer disciple, stole the sect's ultimate techniques, and died by jumping from a cliff after being exposed. The Asura God then modified his soul again and sent it into the embryo of Tang Hao and Ah Yin, where it consumed the embryo's original fragile soul. 319

As a Shrek Academy student, Tang San is recognized as a control-type Soul Master and part of the Shrek Seven Devils. His early development is markedly weaker than it would have been otherwise: he does not gain the Man Faced Demon Spider External Soul Bone and absorbs a roughly 1,500-year spider ring rather than a higher-aged third ring. 91

During the Shrek Seven Devils' challenge against Li Chang'an, Tang San fights with hidden weapons, movement techniques, and his Blue Silver Grass but cannot breach Li Chang'an's Dragon Scale Shield. After Xiao Wu is injured, he becomes consumed by killing intent and attempts to kill Li Chang'an with crossbow bolts. Tang San remains in the City of Slaughter for years, reaching one hundred consecutive Hell Slaughter Arena victories only in his thirties. He exits Hell Road with the Divine Slaughter's Domain, but prolonged exposure to the city leaves him tense, suspicious, aggressive, and unable to fully control his killing intent. 274 291

After leaving the City of Slaughter, Tang Hao brings him to Moonlight Pavilion to suppress this killing intent.
