Background / History

Yu Xiaogang was once the Horn of Wisdom of the Golden Iron Triangle, alongside Flender and Liu Erlong. When the three used their Martial Soul Fusion Skill, his companion spirit Luo Sanpao evolved into the Golden Sacred Dragon. 13 125

His martial soul suffered a serious defect: Luo Sanpao existed as a separate, external living creature rather than a conventional dragon spirit, and could not evolve without outside support. This failure left Yu Xiaogang discouraged and contributed to his earlier reputation for weak cultivation despite his theoretical accomplishments. 13 14 16

He encountered Chen Feng, Tang San, and Xiao Wu while advising Xiao Wu to seek a Moon-Drawing Fox for her moon-attribute path. Impressed by Chen Feng's Martial Soul theories, Yu Xiaogang became receptive to Chen Feng's proposal that Luo Sanpao be treated as an independent life rather than merely a defective martial soul. 11 13 16

Chen Feng's advice restored Yu Xiaogang's resolve. He vowed to keep pursuing a solution for Luo Sanpao even if the proposed treatment failed, and sought Flender's help acquiring Ten Thousand Year Earth Flame Dragon Beast blood for the treatment. 14 31 56

Later, Yu Xiaogang returned to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan and trained alongside Golden Horn, developing a mental connection with it. He helped relay Chen Feng's proposed Blood Rage technique to the clan and eventually learned it himself. 85 110 117

Yu Xiaogang is analytical, restrained, and deeply committed to understanding martial souls. He readily recognizes useful ideas regardless of their source, as shown by his respect for Chen Feng's theories and his willingness to rethink his own relationship with Luo Sanpao. 11 14 16

Though initially dejected over his martial soul's defect, he becomes determined once given a direction forward. He believes that no martial soul is inherently useless; rather, a Soul Master becomes useless only by giving up. 14
