Appearance
Vermouth operates through multiple public identities rather than a single consistent appearance, notably the actress Chris Vineyard and the school doctor Doctor Araide. She can remove artificial facial skin to expose a disguise beneath it 110 149.
- Chris Vineyard — American star who signs with Guchuan's Japanese entertainment company 143.
- Doctor Araide — Used to approach Ai Haibara at Teitan Elementary School 110.
- Maintained appearance — States that APTX4869 is responsible for preserving her appearance 111.
Personality
Vermouth is composed, teasing, and highly comfortable exploiting others' reactions. She enjoys provoking Gin, including using photographs of Sherry and Absolut to unsettle him, and later openly torments him after he is reduced to a child 191 210.
Her loyalty is pragmatic. She claims that her personal dislike of the APTX4869 experiment is less important than The Organization's overall goals, yet repeatedly withholds information, disregards orders, and engineers outcomes for her own advantage 118 197 201.
Despite her cruelty, Vermouth shows conspicuous concern for Ran Mouri. She mobilizes The Organization to locate the amnesiac Ran, protects her from being treated as an expendable witness, and rescues her from the sea 154 158 160.

Story Role / Major Arcs
Sherry Investigation
While disguised as Doctor Araide, Vermouth treats Ai Haibara's injured leg and finds a brown-rooted pink hair, leading her to suspect that Ai is Sherry 110. She later confronts Guchuan with Sherry's identity, explains APTX4869's age-regression effect, and supplies DNA evidence to support the revelation 110 111.
Vermouth seeks to use Guchuan to capture Sherry, but his attachment to her disrupts her plans. When he demands that she reconcile with Sherry and support his challenge against Gin, Vermouth rejects him and drives their car into a river rather than submit 111 115.
Leadership of The Organization in Japan
After Gin's absence, the Boss assigns Vermouth to temporarily manage The Organization's Japanese branch 136. Her leadership is challenged by Gin's later financial audit: he freezes her bank cards and rejects her reimbursement requests, undermining her authority 142.
Vermouth nevertheless participates in Guchuan's Organization gatherings and team-building events, where she uses her authority to invite members and provoke Gin 140.
Chris Vineyard's Entertainment Career
As Chris Vineyard, Vermouth signs with Guchuan's entertainment company and becomes a visible public celebrity in Japan 143. Guchuan attempts to manage her affairs himself, eventually assigning Kaito—introduced under Shinichi Kudo's appearance—as her agent; Vermouth reluctantly accepts the arrangement 143.
Ran Mouri's Amnesia
When Ran disappears after losing her memory, Vermouth mobilizes all available Organization members to locate her 154. She later prevents Guchuan and others from escalating Ran's mistaken belief that she belongs to The Organization, even striking Guchuan when he tries to encourage the misunderstanding 157 158.
Vermouth personally rescues Ran after a sea snake incident leaves her stranded in the water. Following the rescue, she kisses Guchuan's face as a calculated provocation toward Little Ai 160.
Suzuki Express Operation
Vermouth shows Gin photographs of Sherry and Absolut together, suggesting that Absolut may have assisted Sherry's escape from The Organization 191. She then explains Gin's Suzuki Express plan to Guchuan: isolate Sherry in the final train car, destroy the connection between cars, and retrieve her separately 193.
During the operation, Vermouth exceeds Gin's instructions by placing additional bombs. After Sherry is presumed dead, she minimizes her responsibility, claiming that she “just added a little extra bomb” 197 201.
Gin's Rejuvenation
After Gin is reduced to a child's body by APTX4869, Vermouth immediately takes advantage of his helplessness, hugging him, pinching his cheeks, and mocking him while he cannot resist 210.
