Background / History

Conan investigates murders alongside Kogoro Mouri and Inspector Megure while concealing that he is Shinichi Kudo in a child’s body. He commonly solves cases by anesthetizing Kogoro with a tranquilizer dart and speaking through a voice-changing bowtie, creating the “Sleeping Kogoro” persona. Guchuan catches him hiding while preparing this method and later uses Conan’s bowtie himself to redirect attention toward Conan’s deduction. 15 16

Guchuan deduces Conan’s true identity as Kudo Shinichi. Conan confirms it, after which Guchuan agrees not to expose him. 21 Conan later directly asks Guchuan to keep his shrunken state secret—especially from Ran—and Guchuan accepts. 22

Conan becomes entangled in Guchuan’s dealings with The Organization. Guchuan repeatedly gives him names of people connected to the group or marked for elimination; Conan investigates them, often arriving after they have been murdered.
