Background

Di Jun was born alongside his younger brother Taiyi on the Sun Star beneath the Fusang Tree, nourished by Solar True Fire. In human form, he carries the more dignified bearing of the two Golden Crow brothers. 24

At Zixiao Palace, Di Jun openly questioned Hongjun on whether the Immortal Dao was the only route to sainthood. His refusal to accept a single sanctioned path foreshadowed his later ambition to establish a Dao and power structure independent of Hongjun's Mysterious Sect. 41 59

After witnessing the Witch Clan gain immense fortune through its founding, Di Jun and Taiyi resolved to establish the Demon Race. The Heavenly Dao recognized their proclamation and the Heavenly Court's Thirty-Three Heavens manifested, with Di Jun assuming control as Demon Emperor. 49 59

Di Jun is proud, ambitious, and unwilling to submit blindly to the authority of the Heavenly Dao or Hongjun. He sought to open the Demon Dao for the spirits of the Primordial World rather than rely on the Immortal Dao. 41 81

Unlike Taiyi, Di Jun is usually cautious and calculating. He repeatedly restrains conflict with the Witch Tribe while the Great Zhou Heavenly Stars Formation remains incomplete, recognizes schemes directed at the Demon Race, and refuses alliances that would compromise his long-term position. 120 151 185 197

His caution does not make him passive. When he decides that an enemy must be eliminated, he acts decisively, as seen in his pursuit and killing of the Duke of the East. 182 183
