Chapter 30: Enormous Wealth and the Four Divine Beast Families
Just as Lynn killed the Gaunt-faced Youth, a battle between Highgods erupted in a valley several million kilometers away.
One side consisted of dozens of Highgods, while the other was merely a single lean young man.
This lean young man had long crimson hair and a vertical flame mark between his brows. Looking coldly at the dozens of Highgods before him, he said, "Hand over the token, and I can spare your lives!"
Though there was only one of him, the dozens of Highgods faced him as if they were confronting a great enemy.
"Ha ha ha!" A bald, muscular man who appeared to be the leader of the Highgods looked at the lean young man and laughed miserably. "Makram, your Four Divine Beast Families wiped out my Talin Family, and you still want to obtain the token from us?"
A murderous glint flashed through Makram's eyes. "Hmph. Hand over the token, or die!"
"Kill!"
"Kill him!"
Makram's words stirred the emotions of the dozens of Highgods. They all howled as they charged toward him, unleashing the material and Soul Attacks they excelled at.
"Roar!" "Boom!"
In an instant, huge elemental beasts, thick bolts of lightning, and all manner of translucent Soul Attacks shot directly toward Makram.
"Courting death!" Makram muttered, his face filled with killing intent.
"Chi chi~~~"
A terrifyingly scorching heat spread out in an instant. Facing the combined attacks of dozens of Highgods, he directly shattered apart, turning into a crimson streak of fire. Then, that fire seemed to teleport—
"Whoosh!" "Whoosh!" "Whoosh!"...
In an instant, it passed through the bodies of the dozens of Highgods before condensing into human form again, becoming Makram once more.
Behind him—successive sounds of "puff puff" rang out as dozens of Highgod corpses fell to the ground one after another.
Just one move!
He had already killed those dozens of Highgods and their Divine Clones!
"Hmph! Fight me? Your clan leader might have stood a chance. As for you, you overestimate yourselves!" Makram snorted. With a wave of his hand, the Spatial Rings on the dead Highgods flew into his grasp.
Expectation flashed through his eyes. "These people were already the Talin Family's last remaining members. The token should be in their hands, right?"
But after a moment, once he had inspected every Spatial Ring, he could not help but frown. "It's not here? Damn Talin Family, where exactly did you hide the token?"
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Several figures descended before Makram and bowed respectfully. "Greetings, Elder Makram!"
As they bowed, their eyes were filled with awe. Elder Makram was a Seven-star Demon elder of the Four Divine Beast Families, and he belonged to the Vermillion Bird Clan, the clan with the most bizarre innate talent!
Makram's expression remained indifferent. "Go investigate! Find out whether any other members of the Talin Family escaped!"
"Yes, Elder Makram!" everyone answered in unison.
As the Blood Sun set and the Purple Moon rose, all of Hell entered the night.
Of course, gods had excellent eyesight, so even nighttime did not hinder their slaughter and battle. Hell at night remained filled with killing everywhere.
Inside a cave dwelling carved into a mountainside, Lynn's Dark Divine Clone was taking stock of today's gains.
Since he was no longer disguising his soul aura, those Midgod bandit groups no longer dared to rob him. Thus, his only gain today was the Gaunt-faced Youth's Spatial Ring.
"This is the first Highgod I've killed. I wonder how much wealth a Highgod in Hell possesses!" After binding the Spatial Ring to himself, Lynn looked into its interior space with some anticipation. At first glance, he was stunned. "Good heavens!"
There were more than forty billion Ink Stones!
Along with a dazzling array of Divine Artifacts, divine sparks, and all kinds of materials and rare curios.
He estimated that this haul was worth at least eighty billion Ink Stones!
"This isn't reasonable!" Lynn came back to his senses and shook his head slightly.
According to the original novel's descriptions, Highgods were indeed wealthier than Midgods, but an ordinary Highgod only possessed a few hundred million Ink Stones at most. A Highgod at the Five-star Demon level might possess several tens of billions.
Eighty billion Ink Stones was a fortune that, in Hell, only the most elite Six-star Demons or even Seven-star Demons would possess.
Yet the Highgod he had killed earlier had only been at the level of an ordinary Highgod. He should not have possessed such an outrageous amount of wealth.
"Could he have been a god from one of Hell's ancient families, sent out to gain experience?" Lynn secretly guessed.
In Hell, some ancient families had been passed down through endless ages and accumulated terrifying wealth. Naturally, the gods of those families possessed far more wealth than gods of equal strength!
For example, in the original novel, Salomon of the Boyi Family, whom Linley encountered on the Purple Thorn Continent, possessed a drop of Sovereign's Might despite being merely a Five-star Demon.
One drop of Sovereign's Might cost over ten quadrillion Ink Stones!
And it was something money could not buy!
Of course, the Boyi Family was still vastly inferior to the Four Divine Beast Families.
While chatting with Xitaya aboard the Metal Life, Lynn had also learned from her that the ancestors of the Four Divine Beast Families were still alive, and the gods of those families were all absurdly wealthy.
Six-star Demons and Seven-star Demons all had Sovereign's Might as standard equipment. Even some Five-star Demons possessed Sovereign's Might!
When fighting the experts of the Four Divine Beast Families, if they found themselves outmatched, they would immediately use Sovereign's Might. And... once they used Sovereign's Might, even Prefect Lords would have to flee for their lives!
To Prefect Lords, Sovereign's Might was a trump card for preserving their lives, something they normally could not bear to use.
Yet the gods of the Four Divine Beast Families used it as casually as they pleased.
After all, their family ancestors were four Main Gods!
Their family's Sovereign's Might could practically be said to be inexhaustible!
"I've let my thoughts wander too far!" Lynn shook his head and cast those thoughts aside.
At the same time, however, this reminded him that he had very likely killed a Highgod with a significant background. The high-level Demons of that person's family might come looking for revenge!
"Forget it! My goal of accumulating wealth and collecting divine sparks has already been achieved. There's no need to keep dawdling out in the wilderness." Lynn made his decision. "Starting tomorrow, I'll fly at full speed toward Floating Light City!"
Every city in Hell was incomparably ancient, and all of them had been established by Main Gods.
According to the Main Gods' decree, slaughter and battle were strictly forbidden within cities!
Even Paragon Highgods dared not defy a Main God's command!
Therefore, once he entered a city, even if the Highgod he had killed belonged to the Four Divine Beast Families, as long as he did not leave the city, they would not dare attack him openly.
