George and Fred made a beeline for Ron's bed, their voices as energetic and exhilarated as ever.
"Look who this is?"
"The one who defeated the troll!"
"The pride of the Weasley family!"
"Mum will send you a congratulatory Howler!"
The two took turns speaking as they kneaded Ron's freckled cheeks.
Ron had been enjoying the first few remarks, but the moment he heard "Mum," his face went pale.
"Mm~ I'm doomed. Mum's definitely going to hang me up and beat me when I get home." Even with his face being squished so badly he could barely speak, Ron could already picture the scene.
Percy chimed in, "We haven't written to her yet. You can tell Mum yourself."
George and Fred each pinned down one of Ron's hands. Instead of rubbing his cheeks, they began pulling them as they said in unison, "Let this be a proper lesson for you."
"Ow, ow, ow!"
Unable to break free, Ron snapped furiously, "You two are dead! My Magic Power has grown. When I'm in third year, I'll hang you up and kick your arses!"
"Hahaha!" The Twins laughed.
"But when you're in third year—"
"We'll already be in Fifth Year."
"When you're in Fifth Year—"
"We'll have graduated!"
"Poor little Ronnie!"
"He'll never catch up."
That cruel truth shattered Ron's beautiful dream. His eyes went blank, and he no longer had the strength to resist as the Twins tugged at his face until he howled.
The antics of the three troublemakers filled the hospital wing with cheer.
"If I'd stopped you back then, no one would have gotten hurt."
Neville thought that he should have dragged Loren and Harry along to find a professor. There had only been one person in the bathroom; perhaps the troll would not have been drawn there,
