In the library, Loren opened a book.

No wizard had ever studied Apparition from the perspectives of the soul and the body before. Loren was the first. There was very little reference material available, so he could only search through everything he could find. If he happened upon anything useful, it would be the Goddess of Luck smiling upon him; if not, he could simply study it himself, little by little.

"The Wizards' Swift Ways of Travel."

It was a book on wizarding travel, covering methods of transportation from the Middle Ages to the present day.

It began with simple, straightforward walking, then gradually developed into the taming of magical creatures. Aside from the common Thestrals, prized Thestrals, Thunderbirds, and highly dangerous creatures such as fire dragons were all used as mounts. Later, as Alchemy developed, items like flying carpets and broomsticks gradually became widespread. There had also been purely flying carriages, but they were expensive to build and lacked any real style—in other words, they were impossible to show off with—so they were gradually phased out.

Apparition had been in use for a long time. Like the Patronus Charm in today's magical world, it had a long history. But it was difficult to learn, highly dangerous, and offered little reward for mastering it... Most importantly, the travel experience was utterly dreadful. Only a very small number of exceptionally skilled wizards learned to use it.

During turbulent times such as the Goblin Rebellion, witch hunts, and wizarding wars, wizards were more willing to learn Apparition as a quick and convenient way to flee for their lives. The more peaceful the era, the more Apparition was disliked. Many wizards who considered themselves people of status would rather spend more time riding in a comfortable flying carriage.
