Because of post-holiday syndrome, the young wizards had yet to readjust their schedules. Even as curfew approached, they had no desire to return to their dormitories to sleep. Coupled with the news of The Dark Lord's defeat, the students had found another reason to celebrate. The Common Room remained lively until late into the night.

To keep the sticky liquid from Gobstones from staining the Common Room, the club had been assigned a corner. Exploding Snap was set up in front of the fireplace, with some of the explosions echoing up the chimney, making them less deafening. The Wizard's Chess players and spectators made relatively little noise, so they occupied the open ground in the middle of the room. At first glance, Gryffindor's Common Room looked noisy and chaotic, but there was order amid the disorder, with a touch of ingenuity everywhere.

After curfew, Belladonna Flames in glass jars replaced the candles. The light was not as bright, but the soft glow was just enough to illuminate the room. The soda and sparkling wine in the glasses reflected a faint, gentle blue.
