Their opponent was the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team.

The lead-up to this crucial match was far from peaceful. Whenever students from the two Houses met in the corridors or the Great Hall, some would throw harsh words at the other House and intimidate the opposing team. The classic nursery rhyme "Weasley Is Our King" resurfaced throughout the Castle, though the versions being sung were rather different.

Ron reacted differently to each version he heard. Either he wore a smug expression and enjoyed the attention, or he went pale with nerves, his fingers trembling.

Even so, given the gap in strength between the two sides, spectators generally agreed that Gryffindor would retain the championship.

Thanks to Draco Malfoy leaving the team, Slytherin's new Seeker was fairly mediocre, while the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team's new lineup was still in its adjustment period. In the earlier matches of this school year, the Gryffindor Quidditch Team had won every game by a huge margin. Once the points scored on the pitch were weighted and converted into House points, the House Cup had nearly lost all suspense as well.
