After discovering that his grandfather Bates is a werewolf, Loren begins studying magic at Hogwarts and uses his unusual perception to uncover Peter Pettigrew hiding as Scabbers. The stretch leaves Harry in trouble after a broom-flying chase with Malfoy, while Loren wonders whether events are being pushed back onto their expected course.

• Sirius Black’s pursuit of Peter Pettigrew killed Loren’s parents, and Loren was later taken from the orphanage to live with Bates at High Mountain Ranch.
• Loren followed Bates into the mountains and learned that Bates was a werewolf who had survived a wartime attack that killed his squadmates.
• On his eleventh birthday, Loren received his Hogwarts letter, met Hermione Granger, bought school supplies and an Apple Wood wand, and began practicing magic at home.
• Loren arrived at Hogwarts, was sorted into Gryffindor, and told Dumbledore about the strange shadows and transformations he could perceive.
• With Dumbledore’s Four-Pointed Star, Loren helped identify Ron’s rat Scabbers as Peter Pettigrew, and Dumbledore arranged for the Ministry to be notified.

• Loren learned from Nicolas Flamel how the Sorcerer's Stone was made and that its creator had to redeem a despairing soul.
• Loren explored Flamel's magical book world, practiced spells with Hermione, and asked Dumbledore and Snape for help obtaining Wolfsbane Potion for Grandpa Bates.
• Loren received the potion from Snape and sent it to Bates, who later wrote that it let him control himself after transforming.
• Loren and Harry, Ron, and Hermione discovered the Mirror of Erised and later found Dumbledore caring for Fluffy, the Three-headed Dog guarding the Fourth Floor room.
• At Halloween, Quirrell announced that a troll was loose in the dungeons, and Loren, Harry, and Hermione went to find Ron.
• Loren, Harry, and Hermione fought the troll with fire and spells until Ron charged it and was badly injured.
• Harry struck the troll's nose, and Loren killed it with Piercing Bolt before collapsing from exhaustion.
• Dumbledore explained that a dark mark from Harry's scar had harmed the troll, warned the four students about Magic Surges, and awarded them fifty Galleons while assigning them detention with Professor Snape.

Loren helped Harry and his friends through the aftermath of the troll attack, a Quidditch match, and growing suspicions about the Sorcerer’s Stone. As Christmas approached, Loren spent the holidays at Hogwarts with Ron, while an ominous prophecy connected him to a rising tide.

• Loren recovered from the troll attack with Harry and Ron, helped the friends reconcile, and kept Harry’s Parseltongue ability secret after Snape assigned them detention.
• Loren trained Hermione in dueling, studied Quidditch, and commentated as Harry caught the Snitch to win Gryffindor’s match against Slytherin.
• Loren realized the trio were searching for Nicolas Flamel, then helped Hermione discover Flamel’s connection to the Sorcerer’s Stone while advising her to watch Quirrell rather than Snape.

Loren traveled with Dumbledore to Albania, where they found Nagini and began seeking a way to restore her. Back at Hogwarts, Loren advanced his alchemy while Harry and his friends secretly helped Hagrid raise Norbert, earning detention after the dragon was discovered.

• Dumbledore took Loren to Albania to investigate his prophecy, explained Voldemort’s history there, and led him to Nagini, a Blood Cursed Beastman guarding a sapphire linked to Ravenclaw’s Diadem.
• Flamel told Loren that the Sorcerer’s Stone might let him give Nagini a body, and Loren began practicing the spatial Rune Array for an expanded suitcase.
• Loren returned to Hogwarts, spent Christmas and the new year with the Weasleys, Hermione, and Harry, and learned that Harry had visited his parents’ graves at Godric’s Hollow.
• Loren continued studying alchemy and magic, helped Neville with his confidence, and joined Harry, Ron, and Hermione in their growing concern about the Sorcerer’s Stone and Quirrell.
• Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Loren watched Norbert hatch at Hagrid’s hut, and they arranged for Charlie’s friends to take the dragon away after Ron was bitten.
