Triumphant Return
Glaide slowly descended above Selisliu, then stretched out his right hand and clenched it tightly downwards.
"Earthflow Chaos"
"Pfft!"
"Pfft!"
Countless slender rock spears emerged from the ground, piercing Selisliu, who lay on the ground, into a sieve and hastening his death.
Only after Selisliu's arm hit the ground and he stopped breathing did Glaide descend from the air. After landing, Glaide crouched down beside Selisliu, frantically searching his body. After a while, Glaide burst into laughter, clutching two stone tablets engraved with unusual patterns.
"Haha! What I've been searching for has come to me without any effort! Don't worry, Selisliu, I will definitely take this intelligence you've gathered back to Goodpes. Oh, by the way! Next time I come, I'll definitely bring you a top-quality coffin, making sure you die comfortably! Haha!"
Having obtained what he wanted and eliminated an obstacle, Glaide was in an exceptionally good mood, having successfully achieved two goals with one move. However, while happy, he didn't forget his caution. After carefully scanning his surroundings to make sure no one had seen what he was doing, Glaide slowly flew towards his subordinates.
Shortly after Glaide left, the tracking duo caught up with him.
Seeing Selisliu lying on the ground like a giant sieve, Sordil rushed over to check his breathing and heartbeat, hoping there was still some hope of saving him. A few minutes later, the last glimmer of hope in Sordil's heart was extinguished. Overwhelmed with emotion, he angrily pounded the ground, venting his resentment and unwillingness.
"Brother Sordil, it's his bad luck that he was killed here. Besides, it saves us the trouble of doing anything!"
Sordil sighed, then stood up and patiently explained, "Brother Igneel, you don't know this, but the one who killed him was a dragon from the Western Continent, not one of our Ishgar dragons."
"They'll fight amongst themselves? That would be even better. That way, they'll have to fight amongst themselves first, and then they won't have the energy to cause trouble in Ishgar!"
"Brother Igneel, things aren't as simple as you think! The guy who killed him wasn't trying to start an internal war, but rather to seize the information from this unfortunate fellow. As for killing him, it was just to settle their personal grudge."
"Oh! I see! Wait... Brother Sordil, what's the information you just mentioned?"
"Before he died, this unfortunate fellow drew a map of the surrounding terrain, the distribution of humans and dragons, and this map was taken away by the person who killed him. Moreover, the murderer said before leaving that he was going to give the information to a guy named Goodpes. Based on my speculation, this Goodpes should be the commander of the dragons in the Western Continent who is in charge of attacking Ishgar!"
Upon hearing Sordil's words, Igneel leaped into the air and exclaimed in surprise, "What? This damned bastard caused such a huge mess before he died?"
"That's right! That's why when I overheard their conversation and the killer's inner monologue, I rushed here with you. But we were still too late!"
Seeing the frustrated Sordil, Igneel patted him on the shoulder and said, "Brother Sordil, I think we shouldn't be sighing here now. Instead, we should immediately return to Dragunov and discuss a solution with Irene, Belserion, so that we won't be caught off guard by those guys from the Western Continent!"
Sordil stared in astonishment at the surprisingly intelligent Igneel. He never expected that this perpetually brainless glutton would be the one to enlighten him. Inspired by Igneel's motivating performance, Sordil regained his spirits and once again threw himself into the great cause of resisting the invasion from the Western Continent.
"Brother Igneel, you're right. Now is not the time to stay here and wallow in despair. Let's go back to the harbor town and meet up with Diphiya and the others!"
"Phew! I finally managed to coax Sordil out of there. Otherwise, when we get back to town, Grandiere and the others would have beaten me to death!"
While Sordil was setting up the Teleportation Array and cleaning up Selisliu's corpse, Igneel patted his chest lightly and muttered to himself.
"Brother Igneel, the Teleportation Array array is set up, let's go!"
"Okay!"
Ishgar's western coastline
After waiting anxiously for nearly half an hour without seeing Glaide return, the dragons of Koreita grew increasingly impatient. At this moment, Hit, who was preventing them from following Glaide, became the target of their bombardment.
"The boss hasn't come back yet, something must have happened!"
"It's all Hit's fault. If he hadn't stopped us, we could have gone to Ishgar with the leader, and the leader wouldn't have gotten into this mess!"
"That's right, Hit is fully responsible for this!"
Faced with the barrage of attacks from the "Spit Army, "Hit chose to ignore it, focusing his attention entirely on the woods at the edge of the beach. However, his retreat did not quell the "Spit Army's" fire; on the contrary, it emboldened them to intensify their firepower.
"Hit, do you think you can evade responsibility by remaining silent?"
"Even if you don't say anything, this responsibility is still yours. We will report everything to the boss when he returns!"
"That's right, let's see if you can still be this calm when the boss deals with you!"
Hit had been motionless, suddenly stood up. However, he ignored the spittle army and flew towards the forest.
"Hit, if you run away, then..."
The accusations against Hit ceased abruptly as the spittle legion spotted a black figure in the direction Hit had gone. Although the figure was covered in wounds and blood, the dragons, as sworn brothers, recognized him. The next second, everyone rushed towards the newcomer, and the thought of attacking Hit vanished instantly.
Looking at the utterly miserable Glaide, Hit asked in surprise, "Chief, what happened to you?"
After draping his injured right arm over Hit's shoulder to steady himself, Glaide said with a sigh, "I'm lucky I even managed to escape. Selisliu and the others all perished inside!"
Upon hearing his leader's words, Hit was startled. After a long pause, he finally asked, "Leader, how did things turn out this way?"
"That idiot Selisliu, after arriving in Ishgar, immediately ransacked a town, attracting Ishgar's attention. Ishgar immediately dispatched a powerful force to besiege Selisliu. Because Selisliu were unprepared, they were wiped out in one fell swoop. When I arrived, Selisliu was being chased by two of their top experts. Although I tried my best to rescue him, I was outnumbered. If I hadn't run fast, I would have lost my life!"
"Chief, if that's the case, then our reconnaissance mission is doomed to fail."
Seeing the nervous Hit, Glaide smiled and said, "You don't need to worry about that. Although I didn't rescue Selisliu, I got the topographical map he drew from him."
"Chief, in that case, let's hurry back to Artek Carl and report back!"
"Yes! That's what I think too. Firstly, it can ensure the smooth completion of the mission, and secondly, it can also avoid those experts who want to kill Selisliu."
"Alright! I'll immediately notify everyone to return to base!"
"Um!"
