Irene ruled the Kingdom of Donagunov during its negotiations with dragon factions and neighboring nations. She received Kaldiz, then met Prince Sordil and Diphiya while preparing an alliance against the dragons of the Western Continent. 39 70 71

During peace negotiations with Tsuyioru Xiu, Irene personally welcomed the delegation at the East City Gate, arranged its accommodations, and scheduled formal talks after a banquet. 123 She later attempted to secure a marriage alliance with Sordil, publicly announcing a wedding with General Oddek when he resisted the proposal. 125

Irene became Sordil's instructor in Augmented Magic. Though their lessons began amid political bargaining and resentment, she came to respect his endurance and dedication. 133 Her relationship with Sordil deteriorated after he admitted that his romantic pursuit had been intended to motivate her teaching; the confession left her devastated, though she recognized that he was concealing genuine feelings. 166

During the war, Irene helped organize Dragon Slayer Mage forces and secretly learned Dragon Slayer Magic herself. Her focus on building military power caused her to underestimate the magic's side effects; after Dragon Slayer Mages attacked dragons, she recognized that their loss of judgment had likely triggered the disaster. 294 299 339

Following Belserion's death and the collapse of the United Front Army, Irene abdicated the Donagunov throne.
