Background and History

Huadun is a long-established school on the resource-poor D72 Star Block, where the local presence of Star Ore was the reason for the school’s construction. The school has existed for hundreds of years, while its principalship has remained hereditary within the Yi family. The Yi family also has historical ties to Zhou Qian. 11 75

It has long been regarded as a low-tier institution. Its teaching quality, faculty, and opportunities were considered far behind those of Huabang Military Academy, and talented students who distinguished themselves in the Hundred Schools Alliance Competition were often recruited away before graduating. 13 17

Despite its reputation, Huadun conceals unusual resources and opportunities. Zhou Yi discovers that the entire school is suffused with powerful energy detectable only by her, apparently contained by the school barrier and greatly enhancing her cultivation through the Star Gathering Art. 10 28

Campus and Facilities

Huadun’s campus is visibly dilapidated, but its facilities contain extensive preserved knowledge and equipment.

The school offers Mech Infantry and Mech Master training, though its students have traditionally faced limited prospects due to low Star Power, low-level Star Weaves, and the school’s D-Class status. 17

Huadun’s staff support independent study and unconventional development. After Zhou Yi entered the Interstellar Competition, neither Yi Mingde nor Lin Xu pressed her for the source of her Mech Master abilities, instead giving her room to train and improve. 70

Huadun’s participation in the Interstellar Competition shocks other schools because it is a D-Class institution ranked in the nineties among roughly one hundred Mech schools. Renewal and Growth

Following the competition, Huadun gains motivated students, improved funding, standardized mechs, and greater prestige. Yi Mingde asks Zhou Yi to preserve and modify retired mechs for the school’s Mech Hall rather than sell them. 150
