Background and History

Before the Twelve Ancestral Witches developed full consciousness, Zhou Ming imprinted the Nine Revolutions Fiend Quenching Art into their origin essences to help them refine the fiend qi eroding them 5. Houtu later distinguished herself through her command of the Law of Earth and an emerging affinity for reincarnation 29 43.

At Zhou Ming’s direction, she refined the Pure World White Lotus and used her essence blood and a portion of her Primordial Spirit origin to create an avatar, Pingxin, also called Calm Heart 43 180. When Houtu traveled the Primordial Wilderness, she saw dead souls wandering without refuge and resolved to establish Reincarnation. She stopped short of acting alone and returned to consult Zhou Ming 177. After learning that Hongjun and the Heavenly Dao intended her true body to become Reincarnation, she instead offered Pingxin for the task, preserving her Ancestral Wu body 178 180.

Great Dao Merit from Pingxin’s transformation later helped Houtu attain the Hunyuan Grand Unity Golden Immortal realm 258. During a later crisis, the badly wounded Pingxin chose to merge back into Houtu, strengthening her cultivation and insight 726 729. Houtu eventually opened the heavens in the Ninth Chaos and proved her Great Dao of Earth and Reincarnation 797 799.
