Background / History

Nuwa resided at Phoenix Nest Mountain with her elder brother, Fuxi. When Di Jun and Taiyi proposed founding the Demon Race, she was hesitant because she disliked conflict and understood that the new race would inevitably oppose the Wu Clan. She nevertheless joined alongside Fuxi after being offered the position of Empress Wa, equal in status to the two Demon Emperors. 26

After receiving Hongmeng Purple Qi, Nuwa struggled to understand its connection to sainthood. She sought insight from the Three Pure Ones at Kunlun Mountain, proposed that they study the Qi together, and later urged that Jieyin and Zhunti be included as well. 46 47

While wandering the Primordial Wilderness, Nuwa deepened her comprehension of the Dao of Creation. At the East Sea Coast, she realized that creating a new race was her opportunity to become a Saint. Her initial clay figures lacked life, leading her to seek the Creation Cauldron, Nine Heavens Breathing Soil, and Three Lights Divine Water. 89

Nuwa obtained the required materials through an uneasy agreement with Zhou Ming, surrendering the Red Embroidered Ball as compensation and agreeing to create an additional human beyond the Heavenly Dao's ordained number. She then created the Human Clan at the East Sea Coast and attained Sagehood through the merit she received. 91 92 96 99

Nuwa is initially conflict-averse and cautious, preferring cultivation and independence to factional struggles. Her decision to join the Demon Race is driven less by conquest than by the cultivation opportunities and protection it could provide for the myriad beings of the Primordial Land. 26

Her caution is especially evident in her dealings with Zhou Ming: she suspects his schemes, fears the consequences of defying the Heavenly Dao, and secretly prepares to destroy the extra human figure if his plan fails. 91 92 96

Despite this restraint, Nuwa is fiercely decisive once the Human Clan or Fuxi is threatened. She confronts the Three Pure Ones over the Human Clan, attacks East King Duke when he refuses her demands, and later refuses to let Jieyin and Zhunti escape without paying a price for their karma. 147 213 552

Although she initially seeks to remain neutral during the Investiture of the Gods Tribulation, Nuwa readily enters it when doing so allows her to repay karmic favors to Zhou Ming and settle accounts with Primordial Lord, Jieyin, and Zhunti. Human Clan Fortune

Nuwa initially neglects to guide the Human Clan after creating them, leaving an opening for Taiqing to establish the Human Sect and claim part of their Fortune. She later allies with Zhou Ming to safeguard that Fortune from the other Sages. 153 157

Wars of the Primordial Wilderness

Nuwa intervenes in the conflict between the Demon Race and Immortal Court under the Dao Ancestor's order, destroying the Myriad Immortals Array and punishing East King Duke. 146 147

When the Human Clan faces slaughter, Nuwa defies the Three Pure Ones and the Heavenly Dao's intended trend to try to save them. Although Di Jun ignores her warning and the Three Pure Ones block her path, she openly vows to settle the resulting karma. 213 219

Following the Immortal-Demon Tribulation, Nuwa helps repair the breach to the Demon Realm with Five-Colored Divine Stones. She initially leaves a controlled gap that burdens Jieyin and Zhunti with suppressing Demonic Qi, then completes the seal and receives the largest share of the resulting merit. 235 236

Fuxi's Reincarnation and the Human Clan's Rise

Nuwa works with Zhou Ming and Calm Heart to send Fuxi's Primordial Spirit into reincarnation. She later requests that Zhou Ming serve as Fuxi's teacher during his life as one of the Human Clan's Three Sovereigns. When Human Clan leader Wu insists that the reincarnated Fuxi must be a Human Emperor rather than a Demon Race figure, Nuwa initially reacts with anger. 268 269 270 272

Later Tribulation

Nuwa agrees to participate in Zhou Ming's plan to repay two karmic favors. She stages outrage toward the Great Shang Dynasty, sends Golden Phoenix to signal that Heaven's Mandate favors Zhou, and orders the Three Demons of Xuanyuan Tomb to infiltrate Chaoge. 453 454 456

She instructs the Nine-tailed Fox to possess Su Daji without harming her soul and supplies a protective talisman. The attempt fails when Di Xin easily suppresses the talisman; he spares the fox for Nuwa's sake but assigns her to serve as the queen's pet. 456 470

At Sishui Pass, Nuwa blocks Zhunti from reaching Kong Xuan, invoking her protection of the Phoenix Clan. She eventually openly aids Tongtian against the forces led by Taiqing, Primordial Lord, Jieyin, and Zhunti, abandoning her earlier neutrality toward the tribulation. 514 521

When Zhou Ming later asks her to assist Tongtian again, Nuwa accepts. Tongtian assigns her to contain Taiqing, while she also seeks repayment from the Western Sages for their accumulated karma by demanding a substantial share of the West's merit. 530 533 551 552

When the Humanity Dao fully returns and humanity establishes an independent path, Nuwa senses that her most primal connection to the Human Clan has weakened.
