Background / History

Hu He grew up believing in cultivators because his grandfather was a reclusive cultivator. As a child, he discovered his grandfather controlling a corpse puppet at a mass burial ground and narrowly avoided being killed by it. His grandfather later revealed that their family descended from the Corpse Spirit Sect, whose techniques included summoning, awakening, and assembling corpses. 109

This background made Hu He unusually receptive to Conquest Online's supernatural systems. He used the Corpse Spirit Sect's secret techniques to create the game's first player-created class, Corpse Refiner, then immediately began seeking stronger corpses to turn into Corpse Spirits. 111

Appearance

During a later mission in the Human Realm, Hu He wore an overtly corpse-refiner-themed outfit that drew the attention of nearly everyone around him. 841

  • Carries a simple blood-colored coffin on his back. 841
  • Wears a hood and clothing covered in twisted runes. 841
  • Keeps a Corpse Raising Bag at his waist for storing Corpse Spirits. 559

Personality

Hu He is fearless toward death, viewing repeated deaths as a normal part of being a player and of wandering through graves as a Corpse Refiner. Even when threatened by powerful enemies, he tends to respond with provocation, opportunism, or dark humor rather than fear. 137 252 566

His ambition is centered on powerful corpses. Equipment and ordinary wealth matter less to him than acquiring the remains of formidable experts, and he is willing to enter dangerous ruins, challenge seals, and negotiate with enemies for opportunities to refine them. 193 375

Although initially infamous for causing disasters, Hu He becomes more mature after Shana's Qingming Event and develops a stronger sense of loyalty. Da Sha and his companions' sacrifice against Yuan Xu leaves him determined to gain strength and seek revenge. 255 296

Abilities & Skills

Corpse Refining

Hu He's defining ability is creating, commanding, and improving Corpse Spirits from deceased beings. His profession allows him to make use of corpses that other players would treat only as loot or scenery.

  • Created a Corpse Remnant Warrior immediately after unlocking the Corpse Refiner class. 111
  • Refined Shana's head into the Shana Corpse Spirit, later awakening its intelligence through Shana's Remnant Soul. 296
  • Successfully refined Hanba into a Half-Step Ghost Emperor Corpse Spirit with You Heng's assistance. 560
  • Controls Corpse Spirits through gestures and battlefield commands. 375 380
  • Can use Corpse Qi to remove severe Corpse Poison from others, as shown when he healed You Heng. 558

Corpse Qi Manipulation

Hu He can gather, shape, and deploy Corpse Qi for combat and support.

  • Condenses Corpse Qi into Black Crows that repair injured Corpse Spirits rather than directly fight. 782
  • Uses Corpse Qi to sustain large-scale Corpse Spirit armies in prolonged battles. 782
  • Can form Corpse Spirit Arrays to restrain opponents, including Little Xuan Ge. 813

Tomb Raiding and Seal Breaking

Hu He's experience with ancient tombs, barriers, and sealed spaces makes him one of the players most capable of uncovering hidden dangers and treasures.

  • Uses a Corpse Seeking Compass to detect concentrations of Corpse Qi and locate corpses. 375
  • Identified weak points in Yuan Xu's barrier around the Treacherous Dragon Tomb and discovered its hidden corpse-refining formation. 375 376

  • Can analyze enemies and corpses for realm, condition, and history, though the ability has a limited range. 193 380
  • Offered to teach Xuan Ge Corpse Refining, grave robbing, and seal breaking. 818

Coffin Seals

Hu He employs coffin-based sealing techniques to control or destroy stronger enemies.

  • Used the Corpse Burial Coffin Seal to trap and defeat Beichen Ichito in the cross-server Arena. 695
  • Collapsed and detonated a Corpse Coffin against a God King, severely corroding the target's body with Corpse Qi. 809
