Background / History

Shirakawa served as Zichuan Xiu's deputy during the Third Hengchuan Campaign. While Xiu spent the post-victory period bathing, eating, and sleeping, she handled the aftermath and tolerated his behavior only up to a point 1 4. Her caution proved important when she halted pursuit of the defeated Demon Race army and strengthened the camp's defenses, suspecting that the easy victory concealed a trap 4.

Originally a Flag Bearer in the Far East Army, Shirakawa was transferred with Roger and Chuan to serve under Zichuan Xiu in the Imperial Capital in 778 8 10. Although initially exasperated by the unexpected order, she remained one of his closest officers.

After Zichuan Xiu was branded a traitor, Shirakawa helped lead the displaced Xiu Battalion into Demon-controlled territory. She enforced discipline among the frightened troops and refused to tolerate accusations against Xiu, despite their desperate position 87 88. When he later returned after killing Lei Hong and taking Kadan hostage, she trusted his innocence despite the accusations surrounding him 94.

At Blue Village, Shirakawa became one of the few people entrusted with knowledge of the secret mountain passage linking the Far East to the Zichuan interior. Her immediate concern was not escape, but the danger that the passage could pose to humanity if discovered 96. The mysterious guardian of the passage also left her a copy of the Xuantian Saber manual after she instinctively drew her weapon against him 96.

Her humor is dry and often aimed at her commander, whom she openly calls an idiot when frustrated 4 50.

Her loyalty to Zichuan Xiu is personal rather than blind. She trusts him even when evidence and public opinion turn against him, but she also confronts him when she believes he is changing for the worse or making dangerous choices 94 142. Xiu Battalion and Exile

Shirakawa begins as Zichuan Xiu's responsible deputy, later becoming one of the original officers of the Xiu Battalion 1 8. After the battalion is driven into exile, she helps maintain order among its branded “traitors,” then supports Xiu's plan to establish a base at Blue Village and resist Demon rule in the Far East 88 94 96.

Far East Resistance

She commands the Direct Division, assists in training and equipping the Xiu Battalion, and helps turn it from an irregular force into an elite cavalry formation 51 102 120. During the wider Far East uprising, she commands major forces, advises Xiu on strategy, and remains loyal through Elder Budan's mutiny 142 146.

Envoy to the Imperial Capital and Blue City

As a Red Guard Captain, Shirakawa undertakes a dangerous mission from the Far East to the Imperial Capital, carrying intelligence and Xiu's strategic message to Di Lin 211. She then travels to Blue City, where her negotiations with Liufeng Shuang help secure outside support against the Demon Race 212 214.

Demon God Emperor's Assault

When the Demon God Emperor breaks through the Far East Army's lines, Shirakawa knocks Zichuan Xiu unconscious to stop him from ordering a retreat. She assumes command, directs Gurei's impersonation of Xiu, and pursues the enemy after the immediate crisis 239. Gurei's death deeply affects both her and Xiu 240.
