Background / History

At twenty-three, Sterling was already a celebrated young Zichuan officer. His charisma and military talent made him an idol to younger soldiers, while Zichuan Xiu considered him “born to be a soldier.” 17 18

He served Zichuan Canxing with intense personal loyalty during the struggle against Yang Minghua. Although Canxing suspected Zichuan Xiu, Sterling defended his friend absolutely, even offering his life as proof of Xiu’s loyalty. 20

Sterling fell in love with Kadan despite knowing she was the Demon God King’s daughter and despite his engagement to Li Qing. His feelings disrupted his usual composure, but he ultimately confessed to Kadan before departing for the Far East; they later reunited and pledged to choose one another over their respective homes if necessary. 18 38 56 57
