Background / History

The sect was founded in the early Era of Emperors by Immortal Emperor Mingren, who named it the Washing Yan Ancient Sect. At its height, it was an imperial lineage that swept through the Eight Desolations, deterred the Nine Realms, and ruled an ancient kingdom to which numerous sects paid homage. Its territory once spanned millions of miles and possessed abundant Heaven and Earth Essence. 1 4 24

Its historical connection with the Nine Sacred Demon Gate dates to Mingren's era: the Nine Sacred Great Sage, founder of that gate, had served as Mingren's foremost general. An agreement between the two lineages stipulated that a female successor of the Nine Sacred Demon Gate would form a marriage alliance with the Washing Yan Ancient Sect's Chief Disciple. 4

The sect later suffered a prolonged decline despite intermittent resurgences. It was defeated by the Holy Heaven Sect thirty thousand years ago, lost control of its ancient kingdom, and retreated to its current territory.
