| Type | World-scale realm within a Cosmos |
| First Appearance | A Great Thousand World ranking is referenced during Song Zhong's ascent through the Realm of the Heavens 514 |
Overview
Great Thousand Worlds are vast inhabited worlds within a Cosmos, each associated with a race or faction and capable of supporting cultivation, sects, cities, resources, and powerful experts. Their relative standing is measured by a ranking based on comprehensive strength rather than the order in which they were born 504.
A Great Thousand World's survival is closely tied to its Godstone, located at its center. If the Godstone is shattered, the world loses the energy sustaining it and is destroyed 662 941.
Rankings
| Ranking principle | Details |
|---|---|
| Comprehensive strength | Rankings reflect a Great Thousand World's overall power, not its age. A world born early may rank lower than expected, while a later-born world can rank higher 504. |
| Early worlds | As long as the earliest Great Thousand Worlds have not been destroyed, their rankings are generally not low 504. |
| Known examples | A cultivator ranked 4,999 regards Song Zhong's world as weak when identifying it as ranked 10,000 514. The Lord of Illusory Eyes originates from the 8,888th Great Thousand World 616. |
| Later rankings | In another Cosmos, a world identified as the 3,333rd Great Thousand World is assumed to be near the bottom of its universe's ranking 1047. |
Structure and Properties
Godstone
Every Great Thousand World possesses a Godstone at its center. It appears to function as the world's sustaining core.
- Destroying the Godstone causes the world itself to collapse and explode 941.
- A Godstone may be connected to special objects such as a Territory Stone 662.
- A world can lose its protective barrier when its relevant guardian or controlling force is removed, leaving it vulnerable to invasion 746 770.
Territory Stone
A Territory Stone is found alongside the Godstone in at least the World of Bizarre Stones.
- It is a translucent emerald jade-like object linked to the Godstone by circulating energy 662.
- Song Zhong is able to take the Territory Stone after the World of Bizarre Stones is already approaching destruction 662.
Protective Barriers
Some Great Thousand Worlds are protected by powerful guardians or formations.
- The Scale Touch Clan's world remains protected for a hundred-year period by the Lord of All Lightning's power, even after that protector's death 681.
- The Demon Clan's protective light barrier disappears after the death of the Strange Demon Quasi-Saint 746.
- The Spirit Clan loses its protective light screen following its Old Ancestor's death 770.
Travel and Connections
Great Thousand Worlds are linked to one another through passages, ruins, spatial phenomena, and special treasures.
- Song Zhong learns that his remote region is part of a larger Human Clan Great Thousand World connected through passages 316.
- Ruins may provide access to abandoned lands or other worlds, drawing cultivators from multiple factions 316.
- The Mysterious Realm may connect multiple Cosmoses rather than merely serving as part of a Great Thousand World 695.
- A Cosmos Crystal can contain an entire abandoned, lifeless Great Thousand World within it 816.
- Song Zhong later uses a Cosmos Crystal to transport the Human Great Thousand World into the Eighty-One Universes 863 867.
World Connection
The Cosmos Ruler can connect two Great Thousand Worlds into one.
- Song Zhong places his Human Great Thousand World beside the existing Human Great Thousand World in the Eighty-One Universes 867.
- When their borders meet, the collision creates a continuous towering mountain range 867.
- Inhabitants of both worlds experience a resonating sensation with the newly connected world 867.
Destruction and Aftermath
Great Thousand Worlds can be annihilated by external attack, catastrophic power, or the loss of their central support.
- The Tentacle Clan's, Demon Clan's, and other allied clans' Great Thousand Worlds are destroyed, leaving surviving experts adrift in the void 774.
- The World of Bizarre Stones is ravaged by the Yin-Yang World-Shattering Calamity, with its inhabitants engulfed by a growing Black Vortex 661.
- The Array Clan turns its own world into a Killing Array as a final measure; the activated formation destroys all life within before the world is teleported away 454.
- A Great Thousand World that loses its cultivators and guardians may be occupied by outsiders and become a public gathering place 877.
The destruction of a cultivator's home world does not necessarily kill that cultivator, but it is believed to make further cultivation advancement nearly impossible by leaving them “rootless” 618.
