Xu Lin is the president of Sun Moon Royal Academy and a prominent member of the Xu Family. His inherited Martial Soul is the Sun, a blazing Martial Soul regarded as close to the ultimate level. He had also previously worked with Divine Craftsman Zhen Hua, who forged the metal for his Four-Word Battle Armor. 126 175

During the academy's freshman competition, Xu Lin took notice of Chen An and Gu Yue Na's exceptional combat performances. Although Chen An's Death Attribute raised the possibility that he could become an Evil Soul Master, Xu Lin chose to cultivate him if he could prove both his talent and stability. 37

After Chen An defeated Sun Yunduan while deliberately sparing his life, Xu Lin privately questioned him about his dragon transformation and his personal circumstances.
