Background

The Tang Sect traces its legacy to Tang San and has existed for roughly twenty thousand years. Its original grounds were in Heaven Dou City; after a revival ten thousand years ago, its headquarters moved to Shrek City before its true command center was covertly returned to Heaven Dou City. The public Shrek City headquarters served as a decoy, while the hidden Heaven Dou facility remained the sect's real core. 238 239

The sect previously suffered a severe decline, receiving little aid from Shrek Academy despite the academy's continued prosperity. A later tradition formally intertwined the two institutions: Shrek senior elders held nominal Tang Sect posts, while Tang Sect elders and sect masters became Shrek honorary senior elders. This leadership overlap made the factions functionally inseparable despite retaining separate names. 255

By the present era, the Tang Sect had become a major commercial and military-technological power. Its weapon exports to the Star Luo and Dou Spirit Empires constituted nearly forty percent of its annual revenue, while its Soul Tool technology rivaled the Federation Research Institute's. 266

Story Role

Pursuit of Chen An

The Tang Sect first moved against Chen An and Gu Yue Na after the brutal death of Tang Sect disciple Wu Zhangkong. Deputy Hall Master Luo tried to have the pair arrested without conclusive evidence and then attempted to take them by force, but the Eastsea Spirit Transfer Pagoda intervened. 95

After Zang Xin was publicly humiliated, the sect issued its highest-grade Tang Sect Kill Order against Chen An. This order was normally reserved for Limit Douluo-level targets, making its use against a Soul Elder unprecedented. The sect relied on assassins, hidden weapons, poison, and tools such as the Soul-Reaping Yama Sticker in its attempt to eliminate him. 186 202

The Tang Sect later publicly admitted that it had sent an assassin after Chen An, while denying intent to disrupt the Federation Grand Competition. 196 206

Poisoning, Massacres, and Leaked Manuals

Di Tian infiltrated the Heaven Dou City branch and released Seven Day Fragrance, an incurable Tang Sect poison. Rather than allow affected members to leave or inform their families, Tang Sect leadership confined them underground to prevent panic and internal suspicion, provoking a riot among the poisoned personnel. 239 245 251

Chen An's group subsequently massacred Tang Sect branches in the Star Luo Empire, looted their treasuries, and stole their secret manuals. 298 299 300

When copies of the stolen manuals were scattered across Star Luo City, the Tang Sect forced a citywide lockdown and searched the Spirit Pagoda. Public backlash compelled it to lift the lockdown. It then invoked the Sea God's Edict, issued a permanent reporting bounty of one million Federal Currency, and executed more than a dozen unauthorized practitioners to deter further cultivation of Tang Sect techniques. 333 335 336 337

Abyss Incident

The Tang Sect used an Abyss divine artifact to lure Abyss Creatures toward Chen An. It denied colluding with the Abyss Plane itself, maintaining that it had only committed a grave mistake in attempting to kill Chen An. 467 506

The incident led to the deaths of both sect masters and a severe reputational crisis. The sect offered compensation to the families of fallen Blood God Legion soldiers, injured personnel, and the legion's weapons expenditure. 467 469

War with the Federation

When the Federation demanded dissolution, the Tang Sect refused and threatened retaliation against any legion, individual, family, or faction that attacked it. 480

The Federation then launched operations against Tang Sect branches. Chen An captured Mingdu Tang Sect, publicly executed thirty prisoners, and rapidly seized fifty additional branches. Other attackers attempting to imitate his success suffered heavy losses to the sect's automated Soul Tool defenses and self-destruction systems. 530 532 534 536 537

Tang Sect retaliation caused civilian casualties, further collapsing public support. Chen An's forces destroyed nearly fifty underground shelters and killed tens of thousands of Tang Sect Soul Masters while pursuing survivors. 571 573 575

Fall of the Headquarters and Bases

The Heaven Dou underground headquarters was besieged with one hundred enhanced Grade 9 Fixed-Installation Soul Guidance Cannon Shells, which breached defenses intended to withstand hours of Peak Quasi-God bombardment. 649

Despite fierce resistance from Battle Soul Hall, Douluo Hall, mechas, and high-grade Soul Tools, Chen An's forces captured four control rooms and disabled more than eighty percent of the headquarters' Soul Tool attacks. The facility fell after roughly an hour and a half of fighting. 651 654 655

Chen An's group then captured all seven major underground bases within a week. Tang Sect personnel destroyed machinery and valuables where possible to deny the Federation access to the sect's remaining production capacity. 662
