Background

Tsunade encountered Uzumaki Gengetsu while drunk in a Sake House. When Root Ninja attempted to seize him on Danzo's orders, she recognized his connection to Kushina and Minato, intimidated the operatives into withdrawing, and allowed Gengetsu to bring her home. She later took an interest in his theories on Chakra Nature Transformation and offered to teach him Yang Release. 5 6

After Gengetsu and Kushina maneuvered her into accepting him as a disciple, Tsunade subjected him to a harsh initial “assessment” before training him in medical techniques, Yang Release, and Monster Strength. She eventually left Konoha, entrusting Gengetsu to Katsuyu and warning him that Medical Ninja are priority targets on the battlefield. 9 10 17

Her losses during the Second Shinobi War remained central to her outlook. Nawaki and Dan both died from catastrophic internal injuries that she could not save, leaving her visibly heartbroken when Gengetsu raised the subject during his Sage Art research. 51

Personality

Tsunade is forthright, prideful, and exceptionally forceful. She is open-minded enough to entertain Gengetsu's unorthodox Chakra theories, but quickly rebukes recklessness—whether it is dangerous Chakra experimentation, rash battlefield behavior, or forbidden techniques used without regard for the consequences. 6 92 321

Her protectiveness is especially pronounced toward Gengetsu. She repeatedly worries over his habit of taking extreme risks, intervenes in his training, and expresses pride when he earns recognition. Her concern is colored by Nawaki's death after he acted impulsively. 17 84 92
