Background & History
Kitsuchi was the son of the Third Tsuchikage and served Iwagakure during its conflict with Konoha. While still young, he operated alongside Iwa commanders such as Jugan and Routo during the campaign around Kannabi Bridge. Despite his age, Jugan trusted him to lead an elite jonin squad against one of Uzumaki Gengetsu's Shadow Clones. 163
He became a principal field leader during Iwa's attempts to contain Gengetsu's Dragon Vein-powered forces. After witnessing the Stone Dragon Technique and the devastating losses it inflicted, Kitsuchi concluded that Gengetsu was beyond his unit's ability to handle and ordered a report sent to the Third Tsuchikage while preparing a retreat. 170 172
At a later point, Kitsuchi succeeded his father as the Fourth Tsuchikage. His tenure was short: Gengetsu killed him while advancing through the Land of Earth toward Iwagakure. Kitsuchi's daughter, Kurotsuchi, subsequently became the Fifth Tsuchikage. 401
Personality
Kitsuchi is cautious, level-headed, and difficult to provoke into reckless action. When the Moon Sage challenged him to a one-on-one duel at Kannabi Bridge, he questioned the opponent's identity rather than accepting the challenge, recognizing the likelihood of a trap. 166
He remains pragmatic under battlefield pressure. Faced with Gengetsu's overwhelming Stone Dragon, he coordinated surviving jonin, supported trap preparations, requested the Third Tsuchikage's intervention, and organized Iwa's withdrawal rather than sacrificing more soldiers. 172

Story Role / Major Arcs
Kannabi Bridge Campaign
Kitsuchi helped direct Iwagakure's response to Gengetsu's Shadow Clone operations, which targeted reinforcements and Kannabi Bridge to divide Iwa's forces. 163
He pursued the Moon Sage toward Kannabi Bridge, but the latter's Ice Sealing Barrier restricted Earth Release and enabled swift attacks against Iwa jonin. 166 167
Battle Against the Stone Dragon
Kitsuchi fought against Gengetsu and Ao Cang's Stone Dragon, attempting to counter its regeneration by using Earth Release to sink it into the ground and separate Gengetsu from its core. The plan failed when the Stone Dragon transformed into a massive Rock Giant. 170 171
After assessing the battlefield losses, he ordered a retreat and requested the Third Tsuchikage's intervention. 172
Fourth Tsuchikage and Death
Kitsuchi eventually became the Fourth Tsuchikage following his father's death. While Gengetsu led Konoha forces into the Land of Earth, he killed Kitsuchi before reaching Iwagakure. 401
