Gengetsu secured Konoha and Sunagakure’s alliance, pursued dangerous research, and stopped Danzo from taking the Dragon Vein. In Rōran, rival villages battled over its power before Gengetsu forged an agreement to suppress and share it.

• Gengetsu exposed White Zetsu’s attempts to sabotage the treaty exchange, helping Nara Enshui and Gari complete the Konoha–Sand alliance.
• Gengetsu gained permission to study Impure World Reincarnation and other techniques, pursued Sage Mode research with Jiraiya, and began testing Tsunade’s cells for a transplant.
• Gengetsu stopped Danzo’s unauthorized expedition to Rōran and learned that several villages were targeting its Dragon Vein Energy.
• Gengetsu met Kurama inside Kushina’s sealed space and warned him that Madara Uchiha would eventually target him before leaving for Rōran with Uchiha Shinsui and Kanzuki Chiba.
• Gengetsu’s team defeated Kakuzu and his rogue-ninja companions, and Gengetsu took the captured Kakuzu to Tsunade to study his heart-transplant technique.
• In Rōran, Gengetsu confronted the Sand, Mist, Cloud, and Iwa forces as they fought over the Dragon Vein, while his clones battled the Seven Ninja Swordsmen and A.
• After the Mist ninja retreated and Gengetsu declined to keep fighting the Cloud, he persuaded the rival forces to help suppress the Dragon Vein and share its power, threatening anyone who broke the agreement.

Gengetsu harnessed the Dragon Vein, advanced his experiments and trained allies while building new summoning contracts and reviving Might Duy. The arc ended with Konoha at war and Gengetsu preparing to lead medical forces to the Land of Rain as Sage One revealed new abilities.

• Gengetsu created the Four Symbols Revolving Array, helped contain the Dragon Vein energy, and sealed the remaining power within his Heart Chakra.
• Gengetsu helped Ao Cang defeat the Dragon Vein Consciousness, then returned to Konoha and began Tsunade’s Hashirama Cell transplant, which gave her limited Wood Release and enhanced healing.
• Gengetsu explored Dragon Vein Chakra, developed Metal Release, and suffered a spiritual injury after using the Shinigami Mask to investigate the Dead Demon Consuming Seal.
• Gengetsu trained his friends in the Four Symbols Great Conversion Array and studied Sage Transformation experiments, while he and Tsunade developed medical talismans and began organizing a shop and apprentices.
• Gengetsu, Kanzuki Chiba, and Uchiha Shinsui sought new summoning beasts, secured a contract with a family of White Jade Sea Eagles, and helped Chiba master Steel Release and sign with the Iron-Eating Beasts.
• Gengetsu used the One's Own Life Reincarnation Technique to revive Might Duy and restore his broken limbs as Konoha faced an all-out war against three great ninja villages.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi ordered Gengetsu to lead medical forces to the Land of Rain, and Gengetsu hurried to Shikkotsu Forest to see Sage One’s completed transformation and newly awakened abilities.

Gengetsu led Konoha’s forces against Iwa, captured Roshi and Han, and drove the Iwa Ninja from the Land of Rain. After confronting Ōnoki, he collapsed from the strain, and Uchiha Shinsui awoke through Reanimation Jutsu as Gengetsu’s clones worked to restore him.

• Gengetsu captured Roshi and most of his Iwa squad, then joined Jiraiya at Konoha’s camp and planned to disrupt Iwa’s supply route at Kannabi Bridge.
• Gengetsu gained the Four-Tails’ cooperation, but Iwa used Han to attack Konoha’s forces and sent troops to ambush Gengetsu, Uchiha Shinsui, and Kanzuki Chiba.
• Gengetsu’s clones fought Iwa across the Land of Grass while he treated wounded Konoha soldiers, and Iwa freed Roshi and unleashed the Four-Tails.
• Gengetsu learned that Madara Uchiha had given Nagato the Rinnegan and planned to revive himself, then sent clones to draw Iwa forces away from the Land of Grass.
• Gengetsu’s Moon Sage clone battled Kitsuchi’s forces, while Gengetsu tested the Gravity Technique and learned that Iwa had trapped Shinsui and Chiba.
• Shinsui gave Chiba his Sharingan before dying, and Gengetsu rescued Chiba, summoned the Stone Dragon with Ao Cang, and defeated Roshi before sealing the Four-Tails again.
• Gengetsu and Jiraiya forced Ōnoki to negotiate an Iwa withdrawal, with Gengetsu demanding payment for returning Roshi and Han and warning him about a force targeting the Tailed Beasts.
• Gengetsu returned to Shikkotsu Forest and collapsed after fighting Ōnoki, while his clones worked to restore his vitality and Uchiha Shinsui awoke through Reanimation Jutsu with the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Gengetsu tried to protect Obito and Rin from Madara Uchiha’s plan, but Rin died and Obito awakened his Mangekyō Sharingan. As Gengetsu’s powers evolved, he struck Kirigakure and began peace talks to end the war before Black Zetsu could exploit it.

• Gengetsu learned that Madara Uchiha had taken Obito, warned that Rin was central to his plan, and brought Kakashi and Rin back to Konoha while Hiruzen Sarutobi approved his research.
• Gengetsu helped Kushina extract the Nine-Tails’ pure Chakra, and Kushina awakened Nine-Tails Chakra Mode while Hiruzen ordered her to keep it secret.
• Gengetsu developed a Spore Sage duplicate of Rin and escorted her with Kakashi to the front, where Konoha’s counterattack pushed the Mist Ninja back along Wave Country.
• Madara Uchiha’s plan led Obito to witness Rin run herself onto a White Zetsu disguised as Gengetsu’s blade, and Obito awakened the Mangekyō Sharingan.
• Gengetsu failed to recover Rin’s body from Kamui Space, defeated the Six-Tails without capturing it, and later awakened the Byakugan and a Heavenly Eye.
• Gengetsu destroyed Kirigakure’s command island and defeated a force of more than four hundred Mist Ninja before flying to Kirigakure to meet the Third Mizukage.
• Gengetsu warned the Third Mizukage that Madara Uchiha’s organization was provoking wars, and the Mizukage ordered envoys to begin peace talks with Konoha.
• Gengetsu traveled with the Kirigakure envoys and spoke with Kisame Hoshigaki about cultivation and the brutality of war.
