Gengetsu grew from a wary newcomer into a skilled ninja, mastering multiple Chakra Nature Transformations and graduating early. His first mission to recover Uzumaki research turned into a battle against the Mist Ninja, ending with Minato rescuing the group while two of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen escaped.

• Gengetsu settled in with Kushina and Minato, learned to refine Chakra, and evaded Danzo’s Root operatives with Tsunade’s help.
• Gengetsu rapidly mastered Chakra Nature Transformations, ninjutsu, and medical techniques, then became Tsunade’s disciple and developed powerful water-based techniques with Minato.
• After Kirigakure targeted him, Gengetsu graduated early by defeating Nobukazu, summoned Katsuyu, and joined Sarutobi Kazuhara’s team with Uchiha Shinsui and Kanzuki Chiba.
• Gengetsu’s team recovered Uzumaki sealing research near the Land of Fire border and fought pursuing Mist Ninja, while Gengetsu discovered scrolls about Exploding Tags and the Mind’s Eye of the Kagura.
• The team faced increasingly heavy Mist Ninja attacks, and Gengetsu used his Yin Seal and powerful techniques to help his teammates escape while Shinsui was gravely wounded.
• Minato and Choza arrived to rescue the group, Minato killed three Mist Jonin, and Gengetsu treated Shinsui and Kazuhara as Minato reported that two of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen had escaped.

Gengetsu uncovered the Dragon Vein’s power, fought off a Root-backed ambush, and helped force Danzo to give up command of Root. The arc left him seeking Tsunade’s help with his laboratory plans and trying to draw her into Sage Art training.

• Gengetsu joined Minato’s mission to Rōran, where he helped Sara stop Anrokuzan’s puppet factory and witnessed the Dragon Vein’s power before Minato sealed it.
• Gengetsu discovered that a consciousness calling itself Ancestor Dragon remained within the Dragon Vein seal and began considering how to use its chakra.
• Gengetsu tested a Hashirama Cells Clone Body with Orochimaru, but its cells ran out of control after he used Wood Release, and he later proposed bounty hunting to fund a laboratory.
• While escorting a caravan through the Land of Rain, Gengetsu’s team was attacked by hired fighters who targeted him, and Shinsui fought through his own injuries to help him.
• Gengetsu defeated the attackers and found a Cursed Seal on Fei that linked the ambush to Root, then told his team he would report Danzo’s actions to the Third Hokage.
• Gengetsu and Kushina confronted Danzo with Minato’s support, and Hiruzen removed Danzo from Root’s command while Danzo agreed to pay compensation.
• Gengetsu told Tsunade that Orochimaru and Danzo had secretly researched Hashirama Cells, then tried to recruit her to help establish a laboratory.
• When Tsunade refused because of her hemophobia, Gengetsu claimed Sage Art could preserve her physical condition and repair damaged organs, provoking her interest.

Gengetsu advanced his Sage research, formed an alliance with Ao Cang, and entered Konoha’s ANBU, where his Dragon Vein power made him a feared opponent. After developing Dragon Vein Chakra Mode, he joined a mission in the Land of Rivers and discovered that Sunagakure had taken control of the region and prepared a trap for spies.

• Gengetsu’s experiments with his Shadow Clone evolved its Sharingan, while his work with Tsunade advanced their cell-fusion research and his pursuit of Sage Mode.
• Gengetsu trained Minato’s squad, helping Kakashi confront his grief and urging Obito and Rin to strengthen their skills.
• Gengetsu developed Ice Release and the Thunderstorm Tag, then shared the tag’s production method with Konoha’s ninja clans.
• Gengetsu released Ao Cang from its seal after they reached an agreement, gained access to Dragon Vein Energy, and decided to develop Dragon Vein Chakra Mode.
• Gengetsu joined ANBU with Kanzuki Chiba and Uchiha Shinsui, then helped Sarutobi Sue’s squad capture an intelligence agent in the Land of Hot Water.

Gengetsu uncovered Sunagakure’s plans and fought its forces while Konoha prepared for a wider war. After sealing Shukaku and defeating Rasa, he helped bring the Sand Ninja to surrender, leaving peace negotiations to begin.

• Gengetsu rescued Konoha prisoners, evaded the Sand Ninja pursuit, and learned that Sasori had killed the Third Kazekage.
• Gengetsu and Sarutobi Sue’s squad attacked the Sand Ninja, captured Gari’s unit, and Gengetsu tried and failed to secure an alliance with Chiyo.
• Gengetsu defeated a pursuing Sand Ninja force with Thunderstorm Tags, captured White Zetsu, and learned that Madara planned to kill him and target Uchiha Shinsui.
• Konoha gathered reinforcements as the war widened, and Gengetsu convinced Tsunade to use Shukaku to break the Sand Ninja’s resolve.
• Gengetsu fought Shukaku with Ao Cang, and with Uchiha Shinsui’s genjutsu disrupted the beast before sealing it back inside Bunpuku.
• Gengetsu and Tsunade defeated Rasa, and Uchiha Shinsui killed Ryu as the Sand Ninja retreated.
• Gengetsu demonstrated his Divine Dragon Form near Kikyo Castle, prompting the Sand Ninja to surrender, and Tsunade arranged to receive their envoys.
