Hongjun obtains a fragment of the Jade Plate of Creation and uses its power to reach the early Taiyi Golden Immortal stage. Recognizing its value, he sets out to locate the remaining fragments 62.

Initially driven by a deep need for recognition, Hongjun confronts Shi Chen after deciding that yielding would make others look down on him. He explicitly desires to become a supreme being admired by all 74. After Lin Tian humiliates him, Hongjun seeks greater power from the Heavenly Dao, entering a cooperative but increasingly hostile relationship with it 77 120.

Hongjun rallies the races against Shen Ni and secretly reserves a Heavenly Dao-empowered God-Slaying Halberd for a decisive strike. This earns him trust among the races while exposing his calculating use of Heavenly Dao power 90.

He later realizes that the Heavenly Dao treats him as a pawn and resolves to strengthen himself enough to escape its schemes 122. His rivalry with Rahula culminates in Hongjun unveiling the Three Corpse method, defeating Rahula’s Immortal Execution Sword Formation, and severely injuring the Demon Ancestor 170.

Unable to surpass Lin Tian through ordinary cultivation, Hongjun accepts the Heavenly Dao’s path to Sainthood. He is calculating, secretive, and willing to conceal his strength until it can secure victory. He hides the Three Corpse method from Rahula, uses sermons to absorb cultivators’ destiny, and offers Saint positions as instruments of control 170 185 318.
