Background / History

Ye Li was the nameless savior who fought the Honkai for countless years. At the end of his mission, he restarted a damaged world by sacrificing all of his power and erasing the concept of his own existence; the world consequently forgot him. The reset left behind an ordinary human named Ye Li, who wanted nothing more than a peaceful life as a high school student 1.

Before the reset, he was regarded as the strongest of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers and served as Fire Moth’s Special Operations Captain. He consistently placed himself at the front of battle to spare his comrades from harm, earning a reputation as Fire Moth’s strongest member 31 127 130 313. His long history includes fighting alongside Fu Hua in Shenzhou for more than five thousand years and intervening in crises involving Jilin, Sirin, and the Second Honkai Outbreak 31 134 182 183.

In the reset world, Ye Li conceals his past and maintains a low profile at school. Nevertheless, he repeatedly intervenes in Honkai-related incidents, including the Moonlight Throne operation, Wendy’s treatment, and the battle within Chi You 12 24 35 36. His attempts to keep his identity hidden become increasingly difficult as Fu Hua, Raiden Mei, Himeko, and others recover memories of him 31 52 67.

To prepare for a future plan, Ye Li implanted false memories into one of Feather of Dust’s Memory Fragments, making it believe itself to be his “True Self.” The fragment was deliberately made obsessive so that it would be selected by the Honkai Consciousness and become a Herrscher, while Ye Li himself remained as a Feather of Dust consciousness to support Kiana and the others 118.

In his ordinary-student identity, Ye Li is a strikingly handsome white-haired young man whose appearance draws attention despite his efforts to remain inconspicuous 4 31.

This tendency makes him evasive when Himeko and others confront him about recovered memories, though he remains composed under pressure 1 52 55. His calm exterior also conceals exhaustion, anxiety over his damaged soul, and a tendency to shoulder burdens without asking for help 31 76 318.

Despite his maturity in battle, Ye Li can be awkward and easily flustered by the attention of those close to him. He is especially uncomfortable when his relationships become the subject of teasing or jealousy 52 152 255.

Memory Fragment Plan

Ye Li’s engineered Memory Fragment impersonates his True Self and attempts to take Kiana’s Herrscher authority. The deception is later revealed as part of Ye Li’s plan to create a Herrscher capable of advancing against the Honkai Consciousness 118.

Herrscher of Knowledge Conflict

The female manifestation of Ye Li’s memories and power becomes the Herrscher of Knowledge. After clashing with Kiana, Bronya, and Fu Hua, she is protected by Ye Li’s phantom and accepts a separate identity: Ye Shi 137 138 139.

Sacrifice Against the Memory Fragment

Ye Li confronts his hostile Memory Fragment and destroys Jilin’s pseudo-black hole with one sword. He ultimately dissipates to save his companions, leaving Kiana with a battle-scarred feather 153 156.
