Background

Bronya lost both parents at a young age and was trained as an assassin. Cocolia later adopted her and subjected her to the X-10 experiment, which cost Bronya the use of her legs and left Seele trapped in the Sea of Quanta. The experiments also affected her emotions. 59 64

She eventually came to St. Freya Academy, where Kiana and Mei became irreplaceable friends. During the Canghai City incident, Bronya chose to complete a hack intended to save tens of millions of people rather than defend herself from an approaching zombie; Ye Li saved her immediately after the hack finished. 6

History

Bronya identified the Anti-Entropy origins of the Moonlight Throne and hacked its systems. Though she detected a trojan disguised as Honkai Energy after Ye Li warned her to remain alert, her biochip was forcibly overridden and placed her in an elimination mode that turned her weapons on her allies. 7

The incident left Bronya deeply remorseful. When she learned that Cocolia had installed a backdoor in her biochip, she initially offered to withdraw from the operation and leave St. Freya. Instead, she trusted Ye Li's plan, broke free of Cocolia's command, and seized control of the remaining Anti-Entropy mechs rather than attack Kiana and Mei. 11 20 21

While searching for Kiana, Bronya and her allies uncovered Gray Serpent's network and entered the Hyperion's virtual data space. Gray Serpent exploited Bronya's memories of her parents, the X-10 experiment, and Seele's disappearance in an attempt to recruit her to World Serpent. Bronya rejected him after Ye Li's appearance within Feather of Dust helped her resist the mental assault. 57 59

Determined to rescue Dr. Einstein, Welt Yang, and Seele, Bronya entered the Sea of Quanta. She passed Joachim's trials, reunited with Seele in a parallel world, and refused to abandon her promise to bring Seele home. When Taloch captured Seele, Bronya awakened the Herrscher of Reason's power and destroyed the beast. 63 64 66

Her new core came at a cost: its erosion severely damaged her body, and Mobius and Kevin were able to exploit the limits of her Herrscher power. Bronya later sacrificed herself to ensure Seele could escape the Sea of Quanta, but Seele and Black Seele returned for her; the two promised never to be separated again. 70 71 72

After their return, Welt encouraged Bronya not to define herself through failure and stated that the Herrscher core could unleash greater power in her hands. 82 Bronya later fought alongside Kiana and the others against Memory Fragment Ye Li, preparing the Star of Eden's pseudo-black-hole power as the group's sealing measure. 154

Bronya is analytical, cautious, and intensely mission-focused. She is willing to place herself in danger to finish an objective, as demonstrated when she continued hacking Canghai City's system while a zombie closed in on her. 6 Her technical precision also makes her quick to notice irregularities, from a trojan hidden in the Moonlight Throne to Gray Serpent's repeated data-interface pattern. 7 57

Although outwardly reserved, Bronya is deeply protective of the people she considers family. Her guilt over harming Kiana and Mei while controlled becomes a firm resolve never to betray them again. 11 Her commitment to Seele is especially absolute: she repeatedly risks herself to find, protect, and bring Seele home. 63 66 71
