Background / History

Shrek Academy had stood on the Douluo Continent for twenty thousand years and was regarded as the continent's foremost academy for young Soul Masters. Its prestige rested on its demanding education, the Sea God Pavilion's authority, and the legacy of Shrek students who became major figures in the Soul Master world. 15 47

The academy's institutional culture emphasizes teamwork, collective honor, and the tradition of the Shrek Seven Devils. This outlook brought it into conflict with Leng Jiuming's doctrine of absolute individual strength—a belief later carried into the academy by his disciple Bai Xu. 2 8 31

Before its destruction, Shrek's outer court operated from the inner city of Shrek City. Spirit Ice Plaza, named for Spirit Ice Douluo Huo Yuhao, served as the outer court's main teaching area; Sea God Island housed the Sea God Pavilion and the academy's central authority. 21 47

Entry Requirements

The city-recommendation requirement heavily favors talented members of established Soul Master clans, making access difficult for commoner Soul Masters without connections. 15

Academic System

• The outer court has six grades, each with roughly one hundred students and a single class. 23
• Shrek does not compel students to cultivate, but it also does not provide compulsory education. Students are expelled after failing two minor examinations or one major examination. 23
• A bottom-five elimination system directly expels the five lowest-ranked students in each annual examination. 24
• Students use contribution points—not Federal Coins—to pay academy expenses. 24
• Graduation requires becoming a First-Rank Battle Armor Master. 24
• Students are expected to develop a secondary profession; the four major fields are forging, design, production, and maintenance. 25 27
• Mecha construction is a compulsory group assignment, and a group can be eliminated if even one member fails to complete their Mecha. 27

Work-Study Students

Work-Study Students are assigned separate accommodation behind Spirit Ice Plaza. Their single-story dormitory is visibly rundown, with peeling walls and some rooms lacking window glass. 22

Bai Xu and Gu Yue enrolled under this designation, although Bai Xu had little interest in secondary professions and began with zero points in one. 21 24

Culture and Ideals

Shrek's defining ideal is that its students and graduates should treat the academy as a shared home. Its long-standing institutional strength comes from this collective identity and from the willingness of its members to protect one another in crises. 47 59 107

This philosophy is embodied by the Shrek Seven Devils, whose tradition prioritizes cooperation over individual supremacy. Elder Cai considered Bai Xu's individualist worldview and Spirit Pagoda affiliation dangerous because it could undermine Shrek's culture of loyalty and honor. 35 47
