Background / History

Da Bao was raised collectively by Xianghua Village as its Village Guardian. Though physically powerful and healthy, he was initially slow-minded and mentally underdeveloped. The villagers benefited from having him, but their protection of him was tied to his usefulness as their guardian. 5 14

The Village Chief revealed that Da Bao possessed half of the Cave God's bloodline. His mother had gone mad, and the village's circumstances ultimately produced another guardian for the community. 14 Da Bao knew the White Dragon Fish and Fallen Blossom Cave only as “bad things” and “Black Hollow.” 5

During the White Dragon Fish hunt, Da Bao physically restrained the creature despite being outmatched, allowing Chu Danqing to blind it with a pudao. The White Dragon Fish's claws left him with bone-deep wounds, but the injury and anger also displayed his unusual resilience and strength. 10

After Da Bao consumed much of the White Dragon Fish, its diluted True Dragon bloodline triggered the premature awakening of Da Bao's Cave God bloodline. The awakening caused Blood Essence deficiency, extreme hunger, escalating violence, and a transformation toward a Cave Beast. 15 16 The Village Chief expected Da Bao to eventually return to the back mountain and fight the existing Cave Beast, since only one could remain. 15

Chu Danqing refused to abandon him. Da Bao willingly accepted a permanent summoning contract, then chose to confront the Cave Beast Priest in order to supplement his incomplete bloodline and become strong enough to protect Chu Danqing. 17 19

Appearance

Da Bao began as a massive, burly human with a bulky frame. His bloodline awakening altered him into a distinctly beastlike figure, making him increasingly difficult to mistake for an ordinary person. 5 16 199

  • His body grows larger during transformation, while blood-red, ape-like hair spreads across his skin. 16
  • His fingernails and toenails embed into his flesh and become sharp claws; his forearms lengthen substantially. 16
  • He moves on elongated forelimbs like a gorilla when necessary. 18
  • His altered vocal organs make his speech halting and often fragmented. 16
  • In Slaughter Form, scarlet fur covers his body, his mane resembles blood-colored flame, and his eyes take on a molten-gold color. 214
  • His natural claws are treated as Excellent-grade weapons. 199

Personality

Da Bao is simple, direct, and initially limited in intellect, but he possesses strong instincts and clear emotional attachments. He responds especially strongly to danger, food, and threats toward Chu Danqing. 5 7 191

His loyalty to Chu Danqing is voluntary rather than coerced: he accepts the summoning contract with extremely high favorability and seeks greater strength specifically to protect him. 17 He follows Chu Danqing's combat orders without hesitation, even when facing dangerous opponents. 212 682

Despite his ferocious appearance and bloodline-driven rage, Da Bao is sociable with Chu Danqing's companions. He watches cartoons, shares them with Da Bai, and readily treats the newer summon as a companion. 108 142

Abilities & Skills

Ancient Twilight Bloodline

An activated Cave God bloodline whose concentration increases Da Bao's physical and combat potential. At 1% concentration, it already provides broad protection against mental interference. 199

  • Increases all five basic attributes. 199
  • Grants immunity to negative mental and psychic states, rendering charm and domination ineffective against him. 199 380
  • Enables Killing Form when Fearless and Frenzied States are active together. 199
  • Reaches 10% at the Tier 1 limit, raising the bloodline's all-attribute bonus to +10. 288
  • Reaches 20%, unlocking an Inherited Skill and further altering his talent effects. 373

Deep Cave Blood Beast

A bloodline-linked talent obtained after Ancient Twilight activates. Its effects strengthen with Da Bao's bloodline concentration. 199

  • Treats his claws as Excellent-grade weapons.
  • Enhances all Blood Rage skill effects.
  • Improves HP recovery when severely injured or near death.
  • Amplifies Frenzied and Fearless States.
  • Improves perception efficiency.

Beast Instinct and Combat Intuition

Da Bao's primary combat foundation is instinct rather than formal tactical thought. His senses provide the information that lets his intuition identify danger and react effectively. 17 86

  • Detects approaching people and hostile intent before others can identify the source. 108 191 491
  • Uses combat experience against large creatures to refine instinctive responses. 220
  • Requires evenly matched opponents or large battles to continue developing; effortlessly defeating weaker foes does not improve him as effectively. 185
  • Combat Intuition reaches MAX after training and includes a Fearless State. 24

Blood Rage Power

A power formed from the combination of White Dragon Fish and Cave Beast influences. It fuels Da Bao's claw attacks, berserk states, and Slaughter Form. 17 19

  • Can manifest as enlarged blood claws for heavy strikes and grapples. 214
  • Becomes stronger as Da Bao loses health; his combat power rises rather than declines under certain low-HP conditions. 373 417
  • Allows him to burst through powerful restraints, including a wind python formed by a Divine Weapon. 656

Rending Claws and Bloodthirsty Pursuit

Da Bao's core offensive combination inflicts bleeding and then exploits it for escalating damage and recovery. 19 236

  • Rending Claws — Adds tearing damage and inflicts bleeding while consuming Blood Rage over time. 236 288
  • Bloodthirsty Pursuit — Grants lifesteal and additional bleeding damage against targets already affected by bleeding. 236 288
  • At LV.30, each skill's added effect reaches 30%. 288

Frenzied, Fearless, and Slaughter Form

Da Bao's high-output combat state combines his bloodline, instincts, and Blood Rage Power. 199 214

  • Bloodfiend Rampage — Activates Rampage with a 300% increased effect. 427
  • Fearless Before Gods — Activates Fearless with a 300% increased effect. 427
  • Claws of Madness — Each Rampage or Fearless stack greatly improves Blood Rage recovery. 427
  • Crimson Edge — Increases damage and lifesteal against enemies bleeding from Rending Claws. 427
  • Form of Slaughter — Adds true damage to Rending Claws while Slaughter Form is active. 427
  • While in Slaughter Form, his attacks can combine tearing damage, bleeding, lifesteal, mana drain, and true damage; damage also increases as an enemy's HP falls. 373
  • He cannot physically strike the insubstantial Step Heaven and Earth gods, despite being able to counter their spatial attacks. 702

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • White Dragon Fish's Roar — A weapon temporarily given to Da Bao by Chu Danqing. Its White Dragon Fish Power effect grants him 5 additional Strength for a short period. 17 19
  • Wolf Fang Necklace — Given to Da Bao during the battle with the Fallen Blossom Maiden. Its wolf-spirit howl can briefly stun nearby enemies. 14 21

Relationships

  • Chu Danqing — Master, companion, and primary protector. Da Bao willingly becomes Chu Danqing's permanent summon and consistently fights to protect him. Chu Danqing insists that Da Bao be recognized as a person rather than merely a beast. 17 23
  • Xianghua Village / Village Chief — Former home and caretakers. The village collectively raised Da Bao as its guardian, but the Village Chief ultimately treated his expected transformation and death as an acceptable cost. 14 15
  • Cave Beast Priest — Bloodline rival from Fallen Blossom Cave. The priest sought Da Bao's bloodline to complete its own revival; Da Bao killed and consumed it to supplement his Cave God power. 19 23
  • Da Bai — Fellow permanent summon and friend. Da Bao invites Da Bai to watch cartoons with him and later watches cartoons alongside Da Bai during meals. 142 191
  • Li Qingying — Ally who recognizes Da Bao's blood-fiend-like fighting style and notes that he is too fast for ordinary commands to restrain in battle. 489

Story Role / Major Arcs

  • Feather Guard service — Following the Capital City conflict, Da Bao is appointed Vice Commander of the Feather Guard under Chu Danqing. 117
