Background / History

Konoha was founded after Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha reconciled, alongside the establishment of the other major shinobi villages. It became the dominant village of the early village era under Hashirama, later known as the God of Shinobi 6 11.

Following Hashirama's death in the twelfth year of Hidden Mist, Konoha's fertile Land of Fire became the target of a four-village coalition formed by Kirigakure, Iwagakure, Kumogakure, and Sunagakure. Konoha defeated the coalition and forced an alliance, then endured another major conflict after the other Kage sought revenge. During that later war, Hidden Mist and Iwagakure attacked Konoha but began fighting each other over the division of potential spoils 6.

Under the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, Konoha remained the strongest village in the shinobi world and fought on multiple fronts against Amegakure, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure. Its war machine was mobilized at full capacity while it prepared simultaneous counterattacks and border defenses 121.

Konoha's leadership was divided between Hiruzen's comparatively cautious approach and Shimura Danzō's militarism. Hiruzen suspended Danzō as Hokage Assistant and ordered Root transferred from his control after unauthorized actions, but Danzō later returned to influence and repeatedly pursued personal schemes at the village's expense 136 200.
