History
Invasion of the Land of Whirlpools
A led Kumogakure's forces to Uzushio Village and demanded the Uzumaki Clan's sealing arts, promising to spare the clan if its patriarch, Ashina Uzumaki, complied. Ashina rejected the promise, believing Kumogakure would make further demands 113.
During the assault, A struck a defensive barrier with enough force to kill the Uzumaki ninja maintaining it. He later attempted to break the Four Red Yang Formation with his One-Finger Nukite, but could not penetrate it; the barrier's flames instead drained his Lightning Release Armor 134 135.
Battle against Kirigakure
When Cloud forces approached Kirigakure by sea, A realized Hidden Mist had anticipated their attack. Once a barrier fell, Kirigakure subjected the fleet to sustained Chakra Cannon fire 546.
A subsequently fought Mei Terumi in her partial Six-Tails transformation. Third Mizukage Hyou's plan relied on Mei's Tailed Beast cloak to withstand A's attacks and her Boil Release to corrode his Lightning Release Armor. Five of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist joined the assault. By the final exchange, A was exhausted and gathering his remaining chakra for a last attack; Saito Kage's strongest lightning technique then breached his battered armor and struck him 550 551 554 555.
Personality
A issued an uncompromising demand at Uzushio and pressed the attack when Ashina refused. When trapped by the Four Red Yang Formation, he stopped wasting chakra on attempts to break through and waited for Ashina to exhaust himself 113 135. Later, recognizing that he had little chance of surviving the fight with Kirigakure, he prepared a final attack intended to take down its key combatants 554.
