Arrival and betrayal of Isshiki

Kaguya descends to the Ninja World with Isshiki to plant a God Tree. Although she belongs to the main family and Isshiki to a branch family, their mission status is nearly equal: strength determines which partner becomes the Ten-Tails’ sacrifice. Because Isshiki is stronger, Kaguya attacks him rather than accept that fate. Her betrayal breaks the clan’s longstanding absence of internal slaughter and leaves her fearing retaliation 11.

The later account of her arrival reveals that she uses her lineage’s Ash Bones to ambush Isshiki and feeds him to the juvenile Ten-Tails. His counterattack severely injures her. She initially hides in her Starting Ball Space, but the Ninja World’s extraordinary energy accelerates the God Tree’s growth enough to force her out to guard its approaching fruit 318.

Seiji and the Land of Ancestors

During Seiji’s journey into the distant past, Kaguya appears near the God Tree and encounters him as the Land of Ancestors’ “Son of Heaven.” She recognizes him as an unfamiliar Otsutsuki clansman and tests him with her Byakugan, prompting his Jōgan to activate. Seiji brings her to his capital, and she begins to regard him as a possible ally against pursuing clansmen 317 318.

Their relationship becomes romantic and culminates in a wedding. Urashiki’s arrival interrupts this period before Kaguya has consumed the Chakra Fruit, leaving her unable to match him directly 321 322 323 331.

While Seiji fights Urashiki, his Shadow Clone escorts Kaguya to the God Tree. She consumes its fruit, awakens her Rinne Sharingan, and uses Infinite Tsukuyomi and God: Tree World Descent to protect the planet’s inhabitants from the battle. Memory sealing, rule, and imprisonment

After Seiji disappears from that era, Kaguya preserves the Land of Ancestors for him. She alters the memories of the creatures released from Infinite Tsukuyomi and seals her own memories of Seiji to avoid disrupting history. She intends to await his arrival a thousand years later 331.

The humanity developed through their relationship still influences her. When war threatens her people, she pacifies the conflict and unifies the Ninja World, earning the title Rabbit Goddess. Hagoromo and Hamura are subsequently born through the blessings and prayers of the world and humanity; she shares her chakra with them 331.

Her memory seal also removes her recollection of defeating Urashiki. Fear of the Otsutsuki pursuers grows, and she separates the Ten-Tails from herself to plant the God Tree again. She demands human “offerings,” selecting people to turn into White Zetsu soldiers 331.

Hagoromo discovers the offerings’ true purpose and rebels. Kaguya reads Hamura’s mind, learns of his involvement, and controls him to attack his brother. Hagoromo frees and saves Hamura, after which the brothers wage a prolonged battle against their mother and seal her with Six Paths: Planetary Devastation. The sealing creates the moon, while her separated will, Black Zetsu, escapes 11 331.

Encounters across worlds

While Kaguya remains sealed, Seiji’s soul is drawn into a special space on the moon. She initially mistakes his Isshiki-derived bloodline aura for Isshiki himself. After recognizing Seiji, she absorbs and returns his chakra and Pupil Power, indicates that she knows him, and leaves their connection unexplained 195 197.

A later arc features another world’s Kaguya, revived through Black Zetsu’s possession of Madara. Seiji explicitly recognizes that she is not his wife, despite their resemblance. They nevertheless form a tactical alliance: she removes Hamura to another dimension while Seiji delays Hagoromo 505 506 507.

That counterpart immobilizes Hamura and reclaims almost all of his chakra. With Seiji’s barrier preventing Hagoromo’s escape, she takes her elder son into the Heavy Gravity Dimension and later returns with his soul body severely weakened 510 511 512.

Release and reunion

Seiji rejects merely summoning Kaguya’s will through another host. His goal is to release her actual self from the lunar seal, which requires the combined effect of Hagoromo’s and Hamura’s distinct Six Paths powers 334.

With Nagato and Black Zetsu assisting the preparations, Seiji breaks the seal through a combined Yin-Yang Release technique. Kaguya immediately uses Yomotsu Hirasaka to reach Kirigakure, where she and Seiji joyfully embrace 562 564 567 568.

After reclaiming the Ten-Tails, she joins Seiji against Hagoromo. Self-preservation strongly shapes her decisions. Her attack on Isshiki prevents her sacrifice, while fear of clan retaliation drives her pursuit of greater power and the White Zetsu army. She treats the Ninja World as a valuable “nursery”: protecting its inhabitants can preserve the ecosystem needed for future Chakra Fruits rather than reflect unconditional concern for human freedom 11 328 331.

She experiences her sons’ rebellion as a deeply personal betrayal. Her resentment toward Hagoromo persists because he shows no remorse and repeatedly obstructs her release.
